I have battled clinical depression for most of my adult life. I have been on and off meds. My life started improving when I became able to identify "depression " as a foreign state that I was experiencing, rather than the doctor's excuses: "This is just the way you are, accept it 100%". Instead, now I can identify when depression is urging me to do something, and I do the exact opposite. Depression tells me I need to lay down and take a nap- so I get up and dance to music. Depression tells me my house will never be clean, so I start a 15 minute timer and start cleaning just 1 area. And when that 15 minutes are done, I set the timer again, and again. Depression tells me you have no time to cook, and so I make from scratch the most simple, nutritious dish I can - but it counts! You had a life before "depression "- rediscover it!

finally someone explained my anxiety and panic disorder 's root cause. your explanation is more make sense than a doctor degree can explain. I thank God I come across your vid. now I know my anxiety and panic attack is from the lack of focus on activity. thank you so much for sharing, sir. one day I 'll have my own land, and I surely will become a farmer. so I can always have foods on my table, and to support my family. and can have healthy body and mind for as long as I live. that's my biggest dream.

I agree with you 100%! Everytime I talk to my friends about same vision. That all we need is a balance and all our works right now are not natural from human prospective. But in reality many people like or they thinking what they are like their jobs. Like a manager or some financial advisers. This is our reality and I don't like it. I think all this kind of jobs bring for us more suffering, but at the same time all natural kind of work like a farmer give more balance and happiness life. Sorry for my English and big regards from Russia to you Jon!

people are too worried about their jobs, we focus on our so called jobs, thinking money will provide security as Jon said before. But people really should spend effort to form relationships. Having good relationships, you may not even need money.

When i was young i worked all the time. Inside and outside jobs everyday. I enjoyed accomplishing things. On my days off i worked construction. I learned alot. Built pole barns, put tin on roofs, did grouting on subdivisions. I was not good at laying tile. 😆. I got sick when i had my daughter. I later started getting depressed. Gained weight.... So sad. I have many things i can do. But i never finish. I need to reschedule my life and decide what to do. Get myself back together. I enjoy your channel. I always wanted to create an environmental community with small homes for poor and old. You have given me so many ideas. I was told crying heals the soul...... I cry its better

Walking and gardening is meditative. Man was made to be outside in nature. Depression increase from spending more time in house and office. Isolated from village and community and nature.

Master Jon you are right depression is a sickness of the mind that immobilises a person to a vegetative state. body and mind must balance. I saw my brother suffer and ones God opened a away for him to go and work oversees he got healed. I have also suffered depression as a result of overthinking because I suffered a great downfall in life

Depression has a purpose. It is our soul telling us that we are not doing the right thing for us, whatever that might be. I got so depressed, I was totally discouraged with life. I had many regrets and kept resenting society, my hatred was so strong I caused myself severely debilitating multiple sclerosis. I live in Cambodia, I could not stand Europe anymore, you have to pay even when you fart. How did we get here? Blaming others was not the way, now that I'm mostly bed ridden and have nothing, I understand. As Jon said, my body and my mind were not connected. Now I am gradually learning to be present though it is very difficult especially now that I have been mostly bed ridden for over 2 years. But I have nothing to worry about, when I worry my health deteriorates, I have all the time in the world and nothing to worry about because, as Bob Marley put it - every little thing is gonna be alright!. 💖😊😁👍😉🤗😀

Sir u r telling about swinging mood like bipolar disorder.. But clinical depression unconscious behavior which can't be control by ourself which involves some chemical action going on in the brain. May be it need some extrinsic chemical power in the form of medicine to balance or reduce the intrinsic reaction.
@thescribe76454 жыл бұрын
perhaps the "intrinsic reaction" which results in the chemical imbalance is caused by some unconscious behaviour, and behavioural modification may work better than adding an external chemical like a pharma drug? Another way of thinking about it..

He's just talking about mindfulness. It's a good topic. Also, he's right about community - it's related to farming and sustainability. Modern lifestyle people tend to isolate more and interact less in person with neighbors in daily lives.

Thank you for this video, Jon. You speak much truth and I've slowly come to bring my consiousness to lead my life, instead of relying on emotions. I still have many ups and downs every week, and it's nice to remind myself that I am more than my emotions. Earlier this year, a dear animal friend of mine passed away. Somehow, the days after his death, I felt wholly at peace. I was right in the moment, not thinking of anything or wanting anything. Life was truly beautiful. My body wanted to move, so I went out to work in the garden, and that physical activity made me feel whole. At that moment, sadness was just an emotion in the background and I was fully present. My best friends death taught me that there is so much more to life if we just let it in, and not live on the "surface".

Sister, reconnect with Nature! Walk barefoot, swim in lakes, sea, ocean, especially if the water is very cold. Take cold showers, it works. I also do meditation and chant mantras to quiet the mind and let Consciousness guide me! We are all in this together! 🤗🌞💖

When we are happy,we don't look for perfection. If you searching for perfection,that means you aren't near to the source of happiness. Happiness-understanding,that wisdom never go out for holiday, On the surface world isn't perfect,but in the depth-everything is perfect. Perfection hides,imperfection want to show up. Smart person never stay on the surface,he explores depth. Not that the things,you are seeing aren't bright enough,but your vision is way too weak. In the all surrounded consciousness-action never stops,however consciousness remains perfect and untouched. So same with sadness,make sadness perfect and untouched. Sadness is imperfection that wants to show up,so let's make it joyful.Sadness is the way to explore yourself,through it you grow stronger than ever.Then you achieve joy in sadness. To be filled with joy: It is not merely being happy, positive, but is something else. It is to be filled with consolation, filled with presence. Again thank you for the video,truly appreciated.

To make this video without being stoned or tripping, that's pretty cool. Jon, you should do a video on the use of natural herbs like marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms and kratom which are all considered as traditional medicine. People put ganja and psycociblin mushroom in their cooking not to the point of making them high but to relax after a hard day of labor. Their medicinal properties are now slowly making it back to mainstream. The corporations are like vultures now circling to monopolise the market and turn it into profit.
