The airbags were deployed blocking their direct view. The best they could do is prevent the passenger door from opening and then having a potential foot chase, or jumping into the driver's seat and speeding off. They did a marvelous job blocking him in.

Dylan Andres Lindsey, 24, killed a liquor store owner a day or two earlier. After this standoff, Lindsey died the next day of gunshot wounds, one of which was self-inflicted. The driver, his girlfriend Alison Hart of Redondo Beach (13 years his senior), is pleading not guilty and somehow posted a $2 million bond. Cannot find any more info about the trial even though it has been two years. Allegedly she was the getaway driver during the fatal robbery so not sure why she is pleading not-guilty.

I know a lot of officers who absolutely love their K9 and treat them just as they would a human police officer partner. Kinda risky for live TV tbh. I once witnessed a speed-chase that ended in suicide on live TV around 2014-2015. They had the camera on the guy after he ditched the vehicle. He ran through the desert terrain a bit and then suddenly stopped. He lifted his gun to his head. Then the news reporter kept saying “cut it, cut it, cut it.” It was already too late though he shot himself and I saw it. You can probably find the chase on YT.

The officer at first shooting couldn’t open the passenger door because it was locked. He tried front and back doors and then had to go around to unlock the doors so they could use the door for safety. The motorcycle officer covered for him so he could unlock the vehicle.

I was in the Army this scene brings back memories of ARTEP (Army Rediness Training and Evacuation Procedures. Some of the chat asked if they needed that many officers. Some may have been in training (cars farther back) not necessarily there for action. Other officers could be close to next shift and came to back up the people they work with. I always ask: When the police have two or more armoured vehicles at the scene, why they don't pin the subjects car by firm contact in the front and the rear to ensure, that he is not able to move his car again?? When your a fireman, even a volunteer. Training is non stop. Your trained to do things you'll probably never do every year. Even baby CPR. I was the only one in my team to be trained in Hazmat. Not sure why but that was how they handled that.

That young man is about the same age as my son. If I was the mother of this suspect it would break my heart and I would be devastated. Thank God my son is a good young man with a good character. If this guy is indeed a hitman it would be important to keep him alive to know who paid him for the job. They will probably guard him in the hospital to make sure his employer does not have him silenced. Even if he does survive and goes to jail they will still have to make sure noone gets to him before he can talk or testify. That is of course if he is the assassin who gunned down the convenience store clerk.

That's why I'm impressed by CHIPS. They don't use the tactics that some local cops use, yelling, several of them jumping on one person while he's already on the ground, punching him in the gut, etc. I have seen CHIPS sneak up on a suspect and walk over and handcuff him with no fuss at all.
