I want THIS version on blu-ray, not the most recent, horribly modernized Met staging.

Why is this woman not singing at the Met on a regular base?

The voice doesn't bloom out like Rysaneks but it is better balanced up and down - looking forward to hearing more from her

I would pay any price for a Blu-ray of this performance.

Heard her sing Sieglinde and she was absolutely stunning. She also has a brain between her ears and vows never to sing Brunhilde.

A very grown up Senta indeed. Very good sound here anyway!

she has a great vocal endowment; what happened to her career?

Her interpretation is great she sees all the facettes of Senta's ballad. But a as German native speaker I can say she does not sing very clearly.

What happened to her during the Dutchman-Senta duet last night? She lost her voice and stopped singing, leaving the Dutchman to fend for himself. This happened at least a couple of times if not three. Didn't think she would finish the duet let alone the performance.

doGreatartistsgrowontrees? What a shame.

Onigbajamo Yes it was a shame and it has not been reported in any of the published reviews thus far. Very strange because other singers, experienced or not, would not be so lucky to have their mishaps airbrushed away.

doGreatartistsgrowontrees? Don't bother with reviews. We have few critics left.

Onigbajamo All too true. These "critics" today act like nothing but fanboys and fangirls. But it's not just critics. The Met, for example, has an army of fanboys/girls who are very active on social media and the web. And they control the narrative (or try to), the better to sway and influence tastes and opinions that fit *their* mold. They are a desperate bunch because of flagging ticket sales and widespread disinterest in the art form (despite failed effort after failed effort after failed effort to popularize something few are interested in --- a veritable tragi-comedy, more tragedy than comedy). So of course they look the other way, blatantly denying and rejecting the truth (of what happened during the duet, as I explained) or, worse, going as far as justifying what she did as "common practice", which we know is categorically total fabrication and falsehood. It is the era of Fake News after all, even among self appointed guardians of "liberalism". Go figure. I have never encountered anything like this before. Used to be that when something as glaring as what we heard two nights ago happened, it would be debated and aired out to no end. Even as far as bringing down reputations, etc. So you see the hypocrisy for what it is in this.

Onigbajamo But it gets better. Since the new girl in town is inarguably obese, the Met, its fanbase and the media will allow her a grace period. But when in a couple of years, say, they realize she hasn't morphed into a bone-thin international supermodel glamour puss AND is unfit for the HD cameras, the Met will drop her like a hot potato and move on to the next sensation of the day. It's happened so many times no one could count accurately if they tried. So the new girl better enjoy her honeymoon while it lasts because it won't be for long. It is a parasitic system that feeds on itself and we are seeing the diminishing returns.

Good voice, but her terrible German pronunciation makes listening to it a torture (heard it live at the Met).

True the voice is nice (although reading the comments it seems like she is inconsistent) but Wagner wanted an opera that is music, voice, theatre. A 300 pound Senta does not fit the bill.@@stephihoffman8558
