One of the best ww2 films . It projected this weird sense of disorder , and stuff is just fucked up. Which is probably kinda what Germany felt during the final days too.

Awesome?! As a Pole I saw there mostly lies and fraud that movie was designed for whitewash/justify Germans. Pretending that they were not so evil, and that for most of bad things were responsible nazis and SS... Moreover, as part of relativization they showed polish underground army as disgusting anti-Semites, Ukrainians too. So Wehrmacht was quite good in comparison to Slavs and SS... To like Generation War one should be German or just to not know the history.

No he hasn't. The entire point of the movie is that he is a weazling opportunist who abused his claimed position to get away from the frontlines and exert power over others. And he gets away with it until the very end because no one bothers to check his credentials. The movie ends with him fleeing the barracks, revealing how he really thought about this.

Saying that you have to be aware that on the frontlines every army committed war crimes and atrocities just like SS did, there's nothing really to call Wehrmacht good Edit. Also yeah, some German generals are the perfect source to judge if Wehrmacht was good or bad. By the same logic we can say that communists and the red army murdering and looting Polish, Baltic and German civilians was good because their generals said they weren't evil and freed them from the nazis
