Danke für diese schöne stimmungsvolle Video. Besonders gefeut hat es mich, die Gräber von Frau Zuckermann und Herrn Zwilling zu sehen. Über die beiden wurde vor einigen Jahren ein sehr schöner Film gemacht: jetzt sind auch sie Vergangenheit, so wie jener große Geist, jene Kultur, die in dieser jüdisch-österreichischen Stadt zu Hause war - in Czernovitz wo "Menschen und Bücher lebten (Paul Celan)

Just participated in a beautiful and touching lecture on Chernivtsi at The Wiener Library in London last Wednesday. I was moved by how the survivors were so attached to this little gem upon Prut River. Once an intellectual centre on the outskirts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire where the Jewish population played a significant role in its "L'Age d'Or", today a ghost town. Thanks for this "gemuetlich" video!

Its Jewish tradition NOT to clear graves. Graves with people are there for always unlike alot of graveyards for instance in holland were graves are emptied after a while. On Jewish cemteries some graves are hundreds of years old and the stones sink into the ground. But I guess the upkeep cost alot of money too which the communities dont have in the ukraine..

Wow what an interesting video.. So much history and so many monuments to the people who lived in that area..
