I remember watching this live on TV. We hadn't won in weeks. Even though it was Derby who struggled until the end of the season to find any form - we had relegation form going into this match - despite being unbeaten until November. Weird season. Won FA Cup though. COYS 😁

Proper football. A less than perfect pitch requiring the players adapt or fail, sliding tackles which when missed creates open/fast paced football, kits the look like actual football kits, crowds chanting, English players and no one talking about £80 million for one player

Correct. A pitch that had life in it with wear & tear and MUD! Derby had the worst come Sept🤣. But you always got exciting matches with great skill. One match there a player gave a lovely lob pass annnd PLOP! It landed & instantly stopped & all the players backtracked. One other big factor is the ball. It's either lighter or made differently but now it's like a giant ping pong ball & allows players to easily do great goals & goalies do great saves but it's quickened the game up & thus tackling is much less. That's what I miss. Tackling. Thunk! Ouch!

Clough was well into drink by this time.very sad to see. Forest saw fit to still employ him as a first division manager for another two years after this.

Shame to see Brian Clough so badly in decline, even this early.

Managers paid a huge price in health from a once athlete. Stress & drinking & smoking too. It was tough for them in the 70s & 80s & a baying crowd & Press. Graham Taylor suffered terribly & for Keegan to resign a minute after the whistle blew with fans baying for his blood. Fans sometimes are the pits.
