RC CAR REPAIRS - HBX 2995 CHASSIS REPLACEMENT

Finally! We received the new chassis for our HBX 2995. Also the same car as the Flyhal FC610.
Installed new big tires and went for a bash. It didn’t go well, so we ran our HBX 16890 for a bit. That way we were able to test the body crack repairs further.

I'm super glad I found your channel. I got this truck maybe 2 weeks ago wanting to get into building RC's and was told I may not be able to do much with it. Well you sure proved them wrong. Great vid as ever, Evan........and loved the hair-"cut scene," too. Nothing worse than building a chassis and your hair getting in the way. I always have to take my glasses off for wrenching, too. The one thing I do try to do when working on HBXs, is to replace the original stock Phillips screws with hex head screws. The hbx screws seem less prone to stripping than the WL screws but even so, hex is best ! Plus I just discovered you pronounce the name "Derby" like "German" or "Gerbil". I live in the UK midlands near Birmingham but about 45 minutes away is a city called "Derby" (pronounced "Darby").

Thanks! Lol yup can’t have that mustache blocking my view! I’m not a big fan of hex screws either. I prefer the torx screws! Got a set of them to replace the hex screws with fire screws on my Kraton when I do my chassis and bulk head. Haha, that’s funny. Yes Derby City is named after the city I live in. It’s a nickname of Louisville Kentucky, which is the home of the Kentucky Derby horse races. 😎😃😀🔥

its funny how people always tell bigger tires will burn your motor\esc\servo but in your case everything else breaks except eletronics lol. Ordered 93mm tires for my hbx 16886 spectre. Hope eletronics hold together since i don't come even close to your bashing style :)

lol very true! I’ve been told my ESCs will die from the shock of concrete landings but that hasn’t happened either. It will one day I’m sure Lol. An esc would be a cheap repair for what I’m used to lol Bigger tires almost always means more fun!! 🤣

I just broke the chassis in the same spot on a 16980sa . Same break except the dog bones in the rear both popped out and we’re laying right next to that damn stop sign 🛑. Should seen it . Hit it at around 30 mph at least . Disgusted with thyself . Hopefully hbx will send me a new chassis

So far the only place I can find these parts is Haiboxing-hobby.com You may have to hit the contact button and send them an email with the part numbers you need before they upload them to the website. Not sure why they do it like that, but they should all be available! Check out my latest video on this car. Just uploaded yesterday. It’s an amazing RC!!

Tell me again why you are swapping out the shock fluid to a higher viscosity. Also, aren’t there places you can order new axles and get them in less than 3 weeks? Amazon??

Yes Amazon does have these axles sometimes now. Back then they did not. The thicker shock fluid helps absorb more impact when landing from jumps. Helps keep it from bouncing around too much.

Still stock motor? Does the steering work? Be sure everything is plugged in and no damage to wires. Luckily if it’s still the brushed motor, it’s easier to diagnose. Especially with a voltmeter.

I hate that the diff housing is part of the actual chassis on these things. If you break your diff it damages the housing so a new one will just strip or break on the first run because it'll fit loosely. It'd be a simple repair... if you didn't have to replace the entire chassis and completely rebuild the truck only to fix a diff. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ya I agree. Probably adds just a bit to durability but I agree as I’ve broken the chassis on it twice lol. Took some big jumps though!

I believe I hit 37 mph, but with larger tires. 2s battery. That hasn’t Made it to a video yet but it will when I do my 3s run.
