Ive been following her since I was 4 and Im in my 30s now... Ive seen all these Pop stars come and go, but Ive always said Selena was the COMPLETE package. She could sing anything and her vocal capabilities were ON POINT! Our ears and hearts were robbed on what kinda of music and performances we missed out on! It’s hard to tell, but that stage was rotating. Usually when an artist performs in a large stadium they’ll set the stage up at one end, close that end and perform to the other half. If I remember correctly, with the rotating stage they were able to fill the whole stadium instead, they just couldn’t find enough space to fit more people in.

She was trying to get into the English singing market and was introducing that. Once she passed, her English album was released. She wanted to sing in English so hard ❤ So much to come for her. That venue is the Astrodome and the stage revolved, and she was at least 50 feet away from the audience because it was originally a baseball field, yet she was still able to keep the energy up. I’ve been to many concerts there during the rodeo (which this is at) and it’s really hard to get hyped up bc u can’t see them very close. The only other rodeo concert I’ve been to their that compares was Beyoncé but it also helped that she had dancers and huge monitors, whereas Selena did it all by herself. Also, disco was having a moment that year. I remember bell bottoms and guys wearing their collars outside of their suit jackets were really in. And I remember the Beegees had a comeback. This is about the same time as Madonnas Girlie Tour, and that’s why she did a disco version of Express yourself, and why there was a streaker.

Supposedly the disco medley was played for the audience because within that year she was going to start promoting her English album. She was already working on a few songs for the record but sadly she couldn’t finish. Basically they wanted to show the audience that they were able to do English music and Spanish music all in one concert so the Spanish market wasn’t going to get scared off and at the same time take over the English market. Oh and by the way I was 15 years old when I attended that last concert she had at the Houston Astrodome it was a night to remember and I will never forget it
