@@criticalhard mixed feelings, LFL, ghostown, b..i'm M get videos and except clics on you tube ( because SHE's M) , this lp flopped right? Madame X get 8 videos but IMO it was M travelling in TITANIC land: you're watching but know how it will end. Angel and cac never get an official video but 2 montages videos when dress you get a live video. O? it was 80's but back then , she rocked! Let's face it, a video will surely help a good track, but for now, even a good video wouldn't help the worst area from M ( started with MDNA ). But she respected her mojo > deeper and deeper - in the flop- Telling this, it's been 37 years i'm a fan.

Rebel Heart has so many demos. It's a matter of choosing your favorites. There's particularly so many versions of demos of the same song. Some aren't dramatically different, where some definitely are, but that's typical. I loved when this album came out because it was literally between the demos and albums versions, a smorgasbord of songs. Just pick your favorites and make your own version of the album.

For me, this is one of the few final versions that are better than the demo (although the demo is pretty good), Devil Pray is easily one of her best songs ever. And by the way, thw "male distorted" voice is the Devil.

another where the demo is better but again ... both versions are amazing. I can’t see the demo working on the final album same for this demo. They are quite raw where the final production in this album is dense and slick.

I adored the demo. I damn near cried too when I heard the album version. I didn't like it at all, personally. Literally took the heart out of the song and made it a lounge disco number. I know a lot of people like it though, but I didn't. The demo almost has a New Order vibe to it that I love. And being older (43), that nostalgic sound I really enjoy.

Hi Dereck, this time you completely missed the message. This is a song against drug use because she says that drugs are only a way that people use to hide and run away (they are the devil pray!) and they are not the answer. Instead people should rather focus on those things they believe in

It really isn’t about drugs at all. It’s about understanding that Spirit/God/Universe is greater than the illusory and temporary escapism of drugs. It’s a subtle, but important distinction.

@@DereckReacts it'll be an interesting ride... but I think you'll like and appreciate it.. It really should have got more critical acclaim.. A lot of it is very brave and the fusion of styles... are incredible.. Its fantastic the calibre of music she's still producing and passionate about.. I just was so disappointed at the vocal treatment Mirwais applies on every track.. he did it stylistically, its like her voice is played and produced like the rest of the instrumentation but for me it forces a disconnect to her voice which I've always loved but again that could be intentional as its political and didactic but I miss her voice on it.. It comes through on some of the tracks bug you'll see whag I mean.. The production is incredible on it.. that's just my only criticism

I take this track as an anti-drug song where drugs take you down the wrong (and lost) path toward Satan. Not a good place to be...a cautionary tale.

The album version is a masterpiece. The demo is great too but not as glorious. Devil Pray, Love Spent, Bitch I'm Madonna and God Control are her best songs of the 10s.

I like them both... Both versions.. Its a great song.. I think the Aviici version has a lovely Western feel and I think is what was gonna be on the album.. Officially... But then the leak happened and all the tracks got then switched up and reengineered to offer something different to the leaked version.. Trying to wrong foot the hackers but it meant the album lost its sonic footprint a bit.. There's kind of a double album in its concept but it all got switched up.. It is an amazing album... And they would have been massive hits.. I'm hoping now she's back with Warner that she will not be under so much commercial pressure.. Record label pushed for the duets and collabs to capitalise on other markets and fanbases and money and M normally has much more control but because she hasn't had the commercial success of late the contractual elements I imagine kicked in.. This is only conjecture on my part but I think it played a part with LiveNation

When you hear this song placed on the album, placed in between Living For Love and Ghosttown, it’s a immense one two three punch of songs 😍 it took me a while for this to grow on me, but it soon became my favourite of the rebel heart album. I love that you’re enjoying her vocals on this era; I think you’ll really enjoy Joan of Arc and Messiah and Beautiful Scars (25 songs released in total for Rebel Heart, you’re going to be here a while 😂)

I like all the demo versions of this album. However, many of them sound like remixes or musical subgenres a little far from what was envisioned for Rebel Heart. They sound more organic and, with a convenience and ballad sophistication that demands post velvety songs with covers and echo then like Madonna's reconstituted, natural, unfathomable, mood and apocalyptic Madonna-designed inserts. dark, romantic, medieval, elven, melancholy, suffering but resilient that Madonna wanted to convey. As ballads like those sung by an Adelle of life would earn several Grammys... a shame even underestimating that Madonna suffers from breast or system... since forever, but especially since 2011.

Prefer the final album version. The demo is corny. I am ok with simple but not cheesy. Both have the same melody but that’s about all I like in the demo. I think you missed the mark on the meaning.

One of my favourite demos! Such a shame it got overproduced to make the final cut of the album for whatever reason it changed. There is some great work on that album, which some of the songs I listen to, are more likely the demos than what was released.

@Dereck the truth is one. Madonna lost the chance to work with Avicci, a dj who is very well known for his talent. Talk all you want but all songs in partnership with Avicci are much superior and better than the officially released versions. A pity because this album would have made much more success.

I think the lyrical content during the breakdown is what dosent carry as well. I only say that becuz the beat is fucking sick, I love it, it makes me wanna dance but I ultimately loved the demo more, as I did for most of the songs on rebel heart. Please review Iconic album/demo next, thanks!!

Rebel Heart final product wasn't bad in fact is pretty good but yeah could have been even better. The thing is that some songs were remixed due that the album got leaked at the end of 2014, so that lead to that action and hurry up the release.
