I used to play in a rock band as lead guitar and while rehearsing in a sort of convent in Genoa, Italy for a few months the Matia Bazar were rehearsing just next door so that I can witness that Antonella was powerful indeed and her voice one of the best ever heard. Her success is well deserved.

A me fa ridere la reaction degli americani ai nostri capelli, molti di noi sono riccissimi ma per loro bianchi= capelli lisci o mossi. Antonella Ruggiero is one of the best Italian voices ever. I think she is a soprano too. She left her group band and started to sing as a solo artist. She is still such a powerful singer. Everyone of them should be able to play this song at the best from their hit compilation. Can you imagine how many talented singers they got? Antonella Ruggiero was most probably the best

Sinceramente Antonella ha avuto il successo meritato. Purtroppo non ha mai avuto un repertorio serio. Ha cantato le canzoncine dei Matia (di cui salvo solo "Cavallo bianco" per le atmosfere evocative) con testi inutili o studiati a tavolino (del tipo "c'è tutto un mondo intorno che gira ogni giorno" o come qui "la parola non ha né sapore né idea" che non si capisce cosa significa ...). Non ha mai affrontato un repertorio serio e cantautorale, mai niente di drammatico, solo vocalizzi amplificati a palla o eterei come nelle ultime canzoni che ha cantato da sola (tutte da dimenticare e giustamente dimenticate). Timbro bellissimo, intonazione perfetta, ma un repertorio non all'altezza di queste qualità. Peccato.

Matia Bazar were the most "avant garde" italian band in the 70's and 80's and the singer Antonella Ruggiero has an amazing vocal extension close to a "soprano". Check "elletrochoc" from their 1983 album "Tango".You'll go nut!

Hey Dereck I’m so glad u like Antonella’s voice …she’s amazing ❤️❤️❤️…there are many other fantastic song with Matia Bazar:Aristocratica ,Elettroshock,Palestina,Fantasia ,Souvenir,Vacanze Romane ….etc…she left the band in 89 for solo career…she stayed away from the scene for 7 years which she dedicates herself to her family and to a path of spiritual and personal research that leads her to numerous trips (especially to India) , returns to the music scene in 1996 as a solo with the first (of many) fantastic album “Libera” a mix between western and eastern musical cultured recorded between India and Italy

Another French 80’s song that was played over and over in disco’s was “ les divas du dancing” . You’re going to love it .

Hahahaha! I felt the same like you back in those days, when i heard it first. Although, when Italo Disco ruled the dancefloors, there were more epic songs but i still remember that this banger wreaked carnage in the clubs around here in Europe. People switched either to pogo or uninhibited expression dance. No more holding back!

A mio avviso nessun'altra cantante dei Matia Bazar ha eguagliato le qualità tecniche, l'estensione vocale ed il carisma di Antonella Ruggiero. Ma erano altri tempi... C'era un'altra cultura ed un altro modo di vedere la vita... Ed anche la produzione musicale era diversa, molto diversa rispetto ad oggi. Di massima chi "sfondava" era davvero bravo, e non tutti avevano la possibilità di 5 minuti di gloria... Infatti, benché facessero parte del mainstream pop, restano nella storia della musica 🎶 italiana, proprio perché erano dei grandi 💯🎵🔝🎹🌈
