Yes, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys did the background vocals, produced in his studio.

Thank you for appreciating this hugely talented woman. She has the voice of an angel. I just melt when I hear her, even after all these years she amazes me. She is so under appreciated. Just so happy that she is getting a much deserved nod from younger listeners.

Crystal clear emotion. Glorious voice - Nothing like Ronstadt doing heartbreak. Powerful and tender. The harmony is off the charts.

This song and Linda's voice are a masterpiece. Everything is perfect here. One of my favorites. ❤

The background was sung by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys; That's why it sound like the beach boys. Wilson sang each background part many times (27 i think) varying this voice just a little each time so it came out sounding like a chorus when it was just him alone.

Jimmy Webb is a wonderful songwriter. He penned hits for The 5th Dimension, Glenn Campbell, and Donna Summer. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys sings backup. Ironically Linda was in a relationship with the governor of California (Jerry Brown). Even though they came pretty close, they are still good friends.

Oooo yay more Linda! You should listen to more of her other greatest hits like You’re No Good, When Will I be Loved, Tracks of my Tears, It’s So Easy, Tumbling Dice, Desperado, Long Long Time, Different Drum and the one song I would love for you to react to is my favorite and thats Heat Wave.

I love Jimmy Webb's lyrics. Especially including "morose" and "grandiose" in ADIOS. Linda did many Karla Bonoff tunes. Try "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me". Perfection.

Uncle Buzz Ashamed to say that I was just a casual music fan during the "Golden Era" of the singer songwriter of the 60's and 70's. Watching her documentary in 2019 triggered a deep-dive into the expansive catalog of Linda Marie Ronstadt. Read her memoir and took notes! She has led me not only to Karla Bonhoff and Jimmy Webb but to Warren Zevon, J.D. Souther, Rubén Fuentes, Andrew Gold, Rosemary Butler, Lee Sklar, Valerie Carter, Wendy Waldman, Lola Beltrán, etc.. She not only possessed an amazing vocal instrument that she honed every day of her life until her instrument became irreparably damaged, but she was a serious student of all aspects and varieties of music, and a superfan and promoter of so many other artists. Her life is leaving the largest of footprints in the minds and hearts of millions.

I'm very much enjoying your insightful reactions to Linda Ronstadt's incredible talent. She is two years older than me, so has been around what seems, forever. This beautiful woman did not allow herself to be chained to one genre of music and her voice was a force majeure. You, myself and many others already know how wonderful she is but I did not realise just how good until I heard her sing 'Poor Wandering One' from the Comic Opera, The pirates of Penzance. It exists on YT and the best video is her lead of Mabel in the movie version. Please check it out.

Speaking of a sad song. Please react to the song “ goodbye my friend” and keep the tissues handy. It’s from the same album, which is fantastic by the way. She has a voice as clear as a bell. Her Spanish album “canciones de mi padre” is also fantastic. I never learned Spanish but I can sing (not like her of course) all the lyrics because I listened to the songs so much .

Between Jimmy Webb's writing and Linda's voice, you can't go wrong on this song. And it is Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys doing background vocals.

Eva Cassidy. If you can review her songs without copyright issues...well worth the listen. She was up there with Karen Carpenter and Linda. Lost her much too soon to cancer. Listen to Fields of Gold, Autumn Leaves and the most amazing arrangement of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Talk about angelic! You won’t be the same afterwards.

Love Linda, but wondering if country guys are ok? Although he just barely qualifies as 90's, Keith Urban first American award winning album " Golden Road" did come out in 1999. His hit " Somebody like You" is from it, has a good official video.
