Watching Stacey on tucks and the powerblock on tnn and spiike tv is what made me start loving working on cars. And now I'm a 25 plus year licensed auto tech. Thanks for the great childhood memories.
@jeffhutchins70487 ай бұрын
TNN car shows in the late '90s is what I lived for. Had the VCR set to tape that 2 hours EVERY SATURDAY. That's when I REALLY got "into" cars. My Dad has made his living in auto/equipment since he was 20 years old so I was ALWAYS somewhat into cars my whole life. Our car when I was a kid (I'm 50 now) was a '63 Fairlane and a '75 Dodge W-100 Club Cab short bed he bought brand new. Later we built and swapped a 440 into it. Then, when I was 14, I bought a '52 Willy's 1 ton 4wd pick up from my maternal Grandpa for $357 and we built that for my first car. Still have it. Then I bought my Dad's '91.5 W-250 Cummins 5 speed from my Dad, that he also bought new to replace the '75. Still have it to. That truck got me INTO cars, mostly trucks, and got me into watching TV car shows. The only reason I bought the Cummins is because it NEVER broke down and got FANFREAKINTASTIC fuel mileage. I started reading 4 wheeling magazines and learned that this truck had ALL OF THE GOOD STUFF! Cummins 12V, HD 5 speed, NP 205, Dana 70 and Dana 60. LOVE both of you guys' content. Been watching Stacy for almost 30 years now!!!

#1. Derek is already a legend. Not just his own Vice Grip Garage channel but Roadworthy Rescue channel and is seen as a star at whatever event he attends. All within 6 years with his own particular style and concentrates specifically on vehicles most would expect to be hauled off to the scrap yard. B. For me, the most interesting bits are when he gets the vehicle just capable of hitting the road then point the grill or what remains of it to home and often times fixing issues as he goes. And #4, he's probably the .ost humble person you'd find on TV or social media.
@jerseyshorefabricators74317 ай бұрын
@gregdcross Don't get me wrong. I love Kyle, warch vice grip garage, vice grip barn and Roadworthy recues. Watching him work with his kids and wife always makes me smile. It's just Stacy has been doing it longer and in some ways better. 2 craftsman from different trades if you will. Kyle took the roadkill model and expanded on it and in my opinion, made it better. Just watched his Polara video. That was a pretty hardcore 1600 mile trip. Enjoyed every minute of it. Peace brother.

Stacey is an OG in the automotive entertainment world. He's a big reason I'm into cars, trucks, and other machines. I loved "Trucks", and I looked forward to it every week. I'm from Michigan and I agree about snowmobiles. A lot of people are completely unaware of how awesome they are. Some of those things absolutely rip.

Having watched Stacey for a long time and Derek now since early in his KZbin channel, I've found both of them to be very knowledgeable and pleasant to watch. Passing on tips and experiences. Right now Derek is one of the hardest working, busiest and most entertaining in the auto genre.... or ANY media genre. And his phrases like "ignition sticks" and "wobble pops" just crack me up. He has the rare ability of getting in front of the camera, invite you into his world and you feel he's loke the best buddy you've known for years. And everyone he's met at events or around his hime in TN say the same thing - he's a genuine nice guy. You can see it when he has his boys helping him in the shop. I think at some point Derek might collect as many cars as Jay Leno. They probably might not be able to be shown at Amelia Island, but they all will be survivors.

One thing I really respect about both you guys, is your ability to work on anything mechanical. I’m currently employed in the power equipment business but spent many years in the auto world. The number of guys I meant, that work on say, Toyotas all day long, but are completely lost when a Ford hits their bay is mind blowing. Or the best auto tech in the world, can’t figure out how to change his oil on his lawn mower…. A good mechanic should be able to wrench on almost anything.

I've been around cars a lot growing up in the 60s/70s because my dad used to turn wrenches out in the garage and the bug got me. Now I have 40 years under my belt driving semi-trucks and wrenching on big diesels. About 1-1/2 years ago I resigned from my trucking company, packed up and moved down to southern Middle Tennessee just S.W. of Columbia. Got a job driving a dump truck around the Nashville Metro area and on my off time, I'm now working on gas and electric golf carts, and just picked up my first utility vehicle UTV/ATV project rebuilding the high torque electric AC induction motor and the transmission. As I'm closing in on the big 60, I find working on vehicles and golf carts and stuff helps take my mind off every day life problems and issues and strange to say, it's fun to do. As I'm learning, not all guys are mechanically minded and because of that I can make a few bucks on the side. Derek has/had a Caddy he called Betty White which I've been dying to see since I learned about him up in Indianapolis a couple years back. I'm sure he has a lot of old cars I would love.
