Housing is just supply/demand. You can still find cheap houses, just in places where nobody wants to live. The people of market place are just insane. Buying used anything seems like prices are inflated. Looking at generators the other day, the majority of the used inverter units I saw were within 10% of the new retail price. I genuinely couldn’t understand who would buy them. You can literally just wait for a sale and pay less new. I’ve been looking at boats also. Everything built within 4-5 years is listed at or near original retail price. Hilariously, I think the problem is not enough people are truly broke. They can afford to hang onto their junk.

I bought a complete and(kinda) running 2dr '69 Nova with a 307/th350 for $600 in 1992. It was the quintessential grandma car with a bench seat but power steering/power disk brakes and ZERO rust or rot. There was only 1 tiny rip in the headliner. I built a 327 for it, swapped in a 4.10 8.5 from a '74, installed buckets with a console and floor shifter before having it repainted in the body shop at my HS. I sold that car for $3K and used $2500 to buy a 402/4 speed '71 Camaro SS with a bad cam/lifter. Looking back at the cars I had and what I let them go for vs what they might sell for today is depressing. The Nova, the Camaro, an SVO Mustang, an '86 notchback with an Incon TT 331 stroker.... People are asking $5K+ for malaise era Nova rollers with rotted floor pans and often more for ragged out twisted to hell fox bodies with no interiors. No wonder kids are building FWD imports.

@@StayTunedTA Dude, I've been trying to sell a set of Holley 2.5 inch electric cut-outs with remote, BNIB, for 100 CAD less then Summit's price for 2 months now. At least 3 times a week I get the old "Hi, is this still available?" and that's all they ever say. It's maddening.

Two of my favorites right here!!! Prices are insane!! I picked up my 69 gto back in 92' for 3500.00😮😮😮😮 it was clean and ran good and looked quite good, not a rusted out pile, had very very little rust. We picked up my dads 67' pontiac lemans for 600.00 in mid 90's from st vincent de Paul. Was owned by one lady until she passed away. Was 💯 % original with 326 and a 2 speed, white with black vinyl top and black interior and had 90k original miles, had a pencil dot of rust under vinyl top and was very solid. During resto i found change from 67' under back seat and the build sheet...so cool! Ended up with a jim butler 474 stroker with 600 plus horse and a th400 along with a 12 bolt, ran 10's and was a beast!! You guy's 🪨!!!!

Graduation in 2019 and my time of highschool I probably bought and sold 20+ cars. Most expensive one was like $950. Most were like $300-$500 and they all ran and drove at those prices. Not non runners are selling for like $1,500 it's absolutely crazy

I'm so glad this was done and would love to see you do more. Doing like a 70's, 80's, and 90's editing of this would be great because people have lost their minds what these year cars are worth. A nothing but body editing would probably have you throwing things.

Tony the best part about the 69 charger on the frame jig is I bought that car last year for $800. I kept sheetmetal and other little things for my general lee and then resold it 3 days later for $2200 the way you see it now

I'm stunned. When I was growing up everybody was driving real muscle cars. They were ten years old and nobody was wanting them. They were all in original condition and cheap. My first car was a 66 Coronet 440 2 door hardtop with a 318, automatic transmission, no power anything, raise the hood and there was one belt for the alternator and the water pump. It did have an am radio. I paid $400.00 for it, and it was nice. Another car I had was a 68 Malibu. I traded my 71 Firebird with a 4 speed, a blown up engine and $50.00 for it.

Back in 2019, I almost bought a brush truck as an impulse purchase for $5k. It was a local fire department's 1980 GMC Sierra with the 454 and less than 15k miles. The price for that full size pumper is more than reasonable and fire truck prices haven't changed since before the pandemic.

That 66 Malibu tribute was insane for 50k. I look at 66/67's all the time Just about a week ago I found a driver quality 67 138 VIN 396 for 46,500... You just have to find them. If your are going to buy a Malibu just find a solid one for 30k or less and do it the way you want and drive it as you go....In all my years I have never gone by a cammed up Chevelle with a Big Block that sounds amazing and heard anyone say "ya but its just a Malibu" Save yourself the money if your just a weekend guy. Most Classic car insurance will let you put a value of what you want on your classic within reason as long as you are willing to pay your premium so who cares if your vin is a 136 or 138

Here in New York it has been 35 or more years since car prices went insane!! In 1989 I met a guy in Newark Valley New York, who was trying to sell a 1965 Mustang sitting in a field with an inline 6 cylinder, and had been off the road since 1975 for $22,000!! AND there wasn't even a straight panel on the car!! I met another guy, in Owego NY selling a 1963 Buick Station wagon, in 2009, that had been off the road for 30 years, had a broken frame who was asking $35,000 for his car too!! My point is there is no shortage around here of people assuming "Junk" is worth wildly more than what it is actually worth!! And every guy in my area thinks they have a "rare car" just because it is over ten years old!!
