Derek Forbes talks about the forthcoming XSM album

Derek talks about the recording of a new album for XSM (Ex Simple Minds).

Mick has already returned, he is recording with Derek & Brian in the studio as we speak, whether he'll play live I don't know. I personally can't wait to hear this new music, a follow up to Empires & Dance or Sons & Fascination is long overdue. When Derek says that the new music 'sounds like Simple Minds' I completely understand where he's coming from, there are certain chord progressions and playing styles which absolutely define their early sound. I suspect this is more what he was getting at.

Derek, Brian and Mick tried to do something similar several years ago but due to personal circumstances Mick had to pull out, so I guess it was a case of waiting until he was available and willing to participate again. And any hardcore fan knows that Derek, Brian & Mick have just as much right to bear the Simple Minds name as Jim, Charlie or Mel...

Love Derek & saw Four Good Men at Rotherham & they were great but really think XSM is desperate & should change their name & drop minds songs from their sets Derek, Brian & Mick are more than capable of coming up with their own stuff & been successful in their own right. Good luck guys with the new stuff & i'll come & see you live to hear your band of the future not the past.

mick left SM due to not wanting to tour. IF he ever decided to tour again then he wont join a "tribute XSM band.......hed join SM for SFY tour..a d that will never happen!! ..

This clip screams out desperation to me. Highly doubtful that Mick will return because I can't see xsm getting a top 20 hit I'm afraid . Bringing a leggy woman in to boost profile may help she's quite fit .. I've listened to eddie , sounded bad in a clip I listened to , I say good luck for trying but I think Derek is hanging on to his past with simple minds
