What a beautiful garden. What a bloody beautiful little quiet film. And what a beautiful. Derek. Thanks for posting.

He sounds like the kind of lovely man I would have liked to meet. So sad that this can never be, but glad we have the beautiful garden and his books.

I've suddenly become fascinated with Derek Jarman and his life. I remember seeing his film Sebastienne in the 80's and it was an awakening for me personally! But seeing him talk about his life and garden through you tube has been quite an eye opener. His relationship with Keith Collins was quite unique. And of course his unique home and garden in Dungeness which he loved and towards the end of his life became pivitol to his survival and in return gave him life back also. Now both Men sadly gone, but re-united after 24 years apart. What a beautiful story x

What an extraordinary person Derek Jarman was. I only knew his films. The first one I saw was Caravagio. I was living in Berlin at the time, I had a German boyfriend and it was the beginning of this relation and we went to a theatre where movies were not dubbed. I was totally taken by the beauty Derek Jerman had transmitted to the character of Caravagio, the actors/ses everything. Then, soon I learned he'd died. So many of us did leave too soon. Now I've just found out that Mr Jarman was a plant and a nature lover. Let him Rest In Peace, or in our memories of so many years and dreams.

Inspirational stuff. I love both the cottage and garden and it demonstrates that with perseverance and creativity you can garden anywhere.

My best pal and I buy requested books for each other. A few years ago I asked for the book with photos by Howard Sooley, a testimony to my enduring love and admiration for the wonder that was Derek Jarman.By the way, I made a small contribution to the fund to save the cottage. Maybe one day I will get the chance to visit it.

how weird! I have just finished the book about an hour ago and as it ended so abruptly, felt the need to get a bit more information. This is a lovely film

I believe Derek could often be seen walking by the sea picking up flotsam and jetsam which he used for his sculptures. I went to an exhibition of his work at the Hayward gallery on the South Bank when I lived in London. Although I never met him personally, he did write me a letter in that wonderful handwriting of his. Apparently he was on his way to Rome to do some filming.

What book are you referring to?
@robertjohnburton97753 жыл бұрын
@@nickmoran1 There are 3 books: Derek Jarman's Garden, At Your Own Risk, & Modern Nature. All have references to his gardening at Prospect Cottage, however the first has great images.
