Excellent video and a refreshingly unique narrating style. This is a dream lens. I have it on order and cannot wait for it to arrive.

Thank you for your comment. It is truly a fantastic lens, one of the best from the Zuiko stable. My photography might have something to do with it!

I have watched a lot of gear reviewers. I like your style as it is refreshingly different.

Thank you. I believe that a non-technical approach finds its own market where the end result is more important than the technical specification.

Great video as always, I really admire your work and enjoy your reviews, tips and locations! I've considered the 12-50mm on a few occasions, I have at present a 12mm Samyang and am borrowing the Leica 12mm f1.4 (amazing low light!) but ths is very subjectable to lens flare. One day I may try the 12-40 Pro! Keep up the good work!

Great as always Derek! I'm wondering how you've got this "olympus colours" when you edited raw in Lightroom? I have omd em 10 mark II, but I have never satisfaid enough with colours when I edited raw. Can you, maybe, make one video about editing in LR how to get "olympus colours" ? Thank you!

As always, experience counts for a lot in anything artistic. The saved photographic files are RAW, that gives me greater flexibility for making corrections in Lightroom. Afterwards they are saved to JPEG at 1400x1050 for programme production in PowerPoint. The completed programme is converted to an mp4 file for KZbin. The production of any programme is viewed from start to finish, therefore I make adjustments in camera with post-production in mind. This often includes spot-metering, -0.3EV and Cloudy WB. I will think about your suggestion, it is a matter I have already considered for my lectures, so maybe the idea can be transferred to KZbin.

Does the IS in the lens also work in conjunction with the Panasonic G9?

I have no experience using Olympus lenses with Panasonic cameras, there is quite a lot of comment on this topic on social media.

Stunning images. For me the 21-100 is just too large and really goes against the principles of M43 in being small and compact. I have the 12-40 Pro lens and that is as big as I like to go. If I am hiking I tend to swap it out for the Lumix 12-32 f3.5-6 and goes well on my Olympus E-PL5 or Lumix GX85. It's a very compact pancake zoom and very sharp. Great work and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your comments. I am somewhat wedded to the 12-100, but my portable lens choice is the Zuiko 12-50 for which I have a KZbin production in preparation. In the meantime you might be interested in viewing my other 12-100 video: - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIG0qXR4fZyrg80 Best wishes

Compare it with a Canon or Nikon or Sony FF camera and any of their 24-70+70-200 offerings.

@@oneeyedphotographer Things changed, now it feels lens actually better on FF: NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR just 570 gramms vs 561 here and same dimensions. Nikon lens isn't "pro", but f6.3 on FF is way more better than f4 on m43. I'm very impressed.

Fantastic landscape. And pictures. And you've done some more youtubers and tv-productions alike should learn from: Include a map. Let people know where it is. We're not all experts in geography, as many seems to think... As for the lens, it seems very nice, do it all. Only a bit sceptical about the aperture though. F/4 at that price tag? If I'd pay that much, I'd rather get something faster for more subject-isolation. Well, that's my take. Cheers from Bergen, Norway.

Thank you for your comments. A maximum f4 constant aperture may be restricted by the 8 1/2 optical zoom. I am sure you are aware that Olympus offer a f2.8 constant aperture lens, but the zoom range is restricted to 12-40. I have included maps on some of my productions and will bear your comment in mind in future.

Very nice lens, but with one BIG drawback - it is too darn sharp. From edge to edge, and all within the frame is equally sharp, that it visually compresses the FoV way too much. From grass in front of feet, right up to the edge of the rock 100m away, all is equally sharp. That compresses the space, and resulting images tend to look like macro shots, or miniature sets / dioramas or the real world. Too sharp, just too sharp.

Thank you for your comments, but it would appear that our visual objectives are quite different, but it is always interesting to hear a different approach.
