Does the fc90i hàve a DCEN polarity for the flux core welder, gun polarity negative, and ground positive, or can the polarity be changed inside the machine if needed?
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects

Yes, it comes with the correct polarity to weld flux core. You don’t get the smooth arc, penetration, and clean weld I got welding flux core with a positive gun and negative ground. No way that I know of to change it inside.

I haven’t used the Forney machine that only welds flux. I had the multi process machine. This machine will do fine. I like the forney better assuming you can still use 10lb spools in them. But this is a cheaper machine if I remember right. Very good too. Very portable.

$279, they are out of their minds..........TBH I am kinda surprised they are even trying to bother with this end of the market since Harbor Freight and Yeswelder have the budget guys on taken care of.....plus it seemed like they always had a gap between the $200 fc-90 and the $800+ machines.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects

It’s maybe $60 more than the cheaper FC 90 price I see these days? With some better specs and leads? Seems like a fair increase to me. I was also surprised to see this machine come out though. I wouldn’t have expected it.

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Yeah I don't get the point of coming out with this when they already have the FC-90 (unless they are planning on discontinuing it).....JMHO they are not competing. Look at the Yeswelder flux-135, they even give you stick leads to do 135 amp stick if you want.....and its $116 right now. I'm sure the Lincoln is a good machine, just seems like they are going after a market that might not be there.

@DereksWorkshopAndProjects

Technically yes. But should be a lot easier to use than oxy acetylene. The arc melts the metal and you run a bead. Almost like a hot glue gun.

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Oh okay very nice. So do these welders use wire or a stick. I’m sorry for all the questions but I figure you’ll be a good person to ask. And does this welder work using 110 and 220 volt? I’ve seen some on Facebook market place that run on both. Would a welder like yours be better than getting an old school arc welder? I’m guessing an old arc welder won’t be good for thinner steel. It’s been a while man haha. I learned how to weld back in ‘87. I never learned to MIG or TIG weld just ARC and oxygen acetylene

I didn’t need to cover what you’re asking for because it is a flux core only machine. There is no reason whatsoever to change polarity because flux core runs on DCEN.

Nothing wrong with running flux-core. In fact, if welding outside, or on slightly dirty metal, FC welds much better than MIG with gas. I have the Century Fc-90, and if anything it welds very hot and welds 1/4" steel with .035 Lincoln FC wire, easily. Needs a 20 amp breaker to run at maximum amps. I have a similar 140 amp Forney machine that always pops the breaker when welding anything over 1/8" which is very annoying, especially since it is also running the smaller .030 wire.

why do you say it maxes out at 120 amps when it is advertised as 90 amps right on the can? and even then they tell you you need aa 20 amp circuit to get that 90 amps.
@ShaunBest
@ShaunBest 8 ай бұрын
Next time a machine trips that breaker take time to find out what other lights or outlets are on that circuit and don't run those things while welding on that outlet. If that wasn't the problem then you have an electrical problem (bad breaker, bad wire, bad connection, wrong wire, wrong breaker etc...)
