I love it. Thank you Derek. I'm enjoying the Acoustic versions even more than the Album itself.

My problem with some of the comments here is that some people want to limit Webb's talent. I love his music. I'm also glad he doesn't hide behind crap. He says things the way it is. So what if he ends up being a bit of a entertainer? He's probably not into entertaining. My point is, if a doctor does well at being a hear surge and he's a Christian, is he just doing it for the money or because he was called into a life of a heart surgeon? Webb was called to play music.

"Derek Webb is fantastic" Uhh...Yes, he is. That was my point. "There's a lot of talent out there" Again, that was my point. I'll say it again: This guy is the gold frikkin standard.

You seriously ought to broaden your listening habits. Derek Webb is fantastic. But he's not alone and there's a lot of talent out there. Stay away from the major labels and you'll discover some real gems. :)

The fact that its an "industry". Worship music was never ment to be an industry for entertainment or profet. At the core, Christian music "should" be about pointing people back to God. But sometimes it becomes more of an entertainment, and a show.

Any guitar guru's out there want to tell me what chord it is he's playing at 1:19ish? During the lines "For a father who loves me enough" and "It's very good you said so yourself." I can't for the life of me figure it out - looks like he's got his fingers on strings that are already fretted higher up.

I'll admit, usually the only "christian" music I really pay attention to is Gospel, and only because it so smoothly intertwines with classical. I'll be sure to look those guys up, tho. I do like seeing people with actual talent suceed.

Jesus Christ was never a pop-star, and I think unfortunately that is what a lot of "Christian" music aspires to be. They try to emulate the secular music industry, and end up looking like posers often when they do. If you like Derek Webb, look up Todd Agnew, Rich Mullins, and Jason Upton. They are some of the more authentic singers I have found, in my opinion.

...Why isn't more Christian music: Less repetitive? On key? Featuring people who can actually sing? Y'know...like this guy is? Seriously, this guy's like the gold frikkin standard for the "Christian music" genreplex, and he pretty much has to self-promote? What is wrong with your industry?
