Our sink nozzle has multiple outputs, so covering with thumb, palm, etc. was not effective as water still flowed out. Solution was to pull nozzle out and then kink the nozzle hose to stop flow. Took a few tries but eventually the hot water started flowing again! Thanks for the air lock tips!

Sir I have disassembled and reassembled my new faucet twenty times called home depot ten called the manufacturer twenty and finally took it out. I had lost all confidence in myself to trouble shoot plumbing problems and had decided I was probably no longer even a carpenter or capable of doing small home electrical projects or fixes. I even made the misses install the new faucet because she was so confident it was my issue. Well it worked great for a couple days so I did have to eat my pride for a bit but then i started to have some company in the confusion canoe. After your video I went straight to the kitchen, she happened to be standing there and I took the faucet sprayer head off, she looked at me like now what the hell are you going to do. I pu my thumb over the hose turned the water on and some air came by before the water, then I turned it off over to other side and on again and off. Put the head back on and walla pressure is back. You have done more than help with my faucet, thank you for taking the time to help us learn here on youtube.

Another thing to check; check the aerator. I thought I had an airlock because after changing one ball cartridge spring O-rings on my dual sinks in the master bath the faucet went to almost no-flow, then shortly after the other sink did the same thing. I naturally thought it was an airlock and preceded to try various methods to bleed the lines. When this didn't work I was considering a plumber when I decided to work back from the faucet until I could go no further. Lo and behold after I took the aerators off I had free flowing faucets. Replaced the cartridges and problem fixed. Note I had turned the water off to the house to do the original fix.

They would have to be removed. use couplings instead of the valves then once sorted out put them back on.

Hi old timer (no disrespect meant) top man you've replied well to myself b4 ..a question I'm puzzled . All down stairs taps kitchen toilet are fine hot watercress fine. (Combi boiler no tank ) . Upstairs however . Sink tap /hot no issues . But bath hot tap does often run cold ..now I trued the trick the other day of finger 9ver tap run hot then into cold (mixer ) and git me a nice running shower . But didn't work tonight . Had to draw hot from sink adjacent and it brought on the hot water . Wouod you suggest the mixer tap needing adjusting (I've read this b4 ) or a boiler issue ? Like maybe the exchanger ? I have a tank heated by a gas boiler and have found issues with the kitchen hot water flow every time we return from taking a holiday of a week or two. I always thought this was an air lock, as it responded to forcing mains cold water up the hot pipe. However, it’s now happened again and will not respond to the usual cold water force trick. Furthermore, the flow on the bathroom taps is also way slower than usual(a good ten minutes to get enough hot water in the bottom of the bath to make it useable!). Do you think this is the same issue of furring causing my problem? Any advice gratefully received and appreciated,

Yes this sounds like furring up issue check the pipe on the top of your cylinder. The vent and feed pipe.

Sorry Jackie I don't live in Essex. The problem though is the roof tank valve humming, try turning the main stopcock down to a slower flow rate, if it still persists then change the ballcock in the main tank.

The indicator was still in green on the boiler but very near to red. Reduced pressure to the normal setting and hot water started coming again.

I need help. I have a kitchen mixer tap with weak hot water flow. I've done has you suggest and it returns hot water pressure, great, but only for about 15 seconds. Then the flow stops followed by a bubling noise under the taps then the weak flow is back?? I noticed small amount of water running out of the tap base when i block the spout to create pressure. I want to avoid plummer costs if possible. How long should I block tap for air to be forced out? Any diy solution???

Are the other hot taps in the house running ok? If they are then it is a problem with the tap. If they are all the same then it either air or the flow pipe from the top of the cylinder is blocked with scale.

Turned the cold off and left the hot running for a few more minutes. Fingers crossed, both hot taps now seem to have pressure again. Out of interest is there a way to flush out scale in cylinder?

Use an outside tap with a hose attached and run it into the bathroom, attaché it to the cold tap in the basin and get someone to turn on the outside tap, while you turn on the cold tap in the basin, the mains pressure will clear it.

Starting with the kitchen tap which was a multi and trying to run cold water down the hot with my finger on the end worked and it also had a knock on effect and fixed all the rest of the taps upstairs in my house. luckily it did because i did not have a hose adaptor and all the rest were single taps. 🤣

Just take a look under the sink or basin taps to see if one is fitted.

Hi, any idea why cold water slows to a stop in the kitchen mixer tap when the hot is used? Flow returns to normal after a while. It is a Megaflo unvented system. All other cold taps works perfectly. Could this trick be used to clear possible air in the cold feed?

There should be a non return valve fitted to the cold and hot feeds to the taps. Pressure from the hot is stronger than the cold main so slowing down the flow. You will never get air in the cold feed as it is mains.

The tap is closest to the incoming main so has more pressure than your cylinder input.

Yes try it. If it is mains though then just make sure your stopcock is fully on. Also that the actual tap has at least a couple of turns.

Yes it should work, check the pipework that leads up to the sink tap it would be fitted there if you have a non return valve.

If you keep getting an airlock then your roof tank ballcock is blocked and slow filling, either clean it out or just renew it.

I have this Tap too and unable to clear with the covering trick. It will run for maybe ten seconds then stop. Did you eventually get yours working?
