I’ve thought so, too. But maybe, once in a while, she doesn’t miss them as much we might think.... There’s a lot of pressure in being an active part of that family; she must have many moments in her “new” life where she breathes a sigh of relief and thinks, “At least I don’t have to do _______ anymore!”

I still wonder about JB and if he molested those girls. Cult leaders usually do that. It's their right they claim. That could be one reason he has such a hold on them. Thank God Jill had Derrick to take up for her and help her move away from that cult life. I pray that the other girl do this also

@karriegress5969
@karriegress5969 3 жыл бұрын
@@spants1058 I don't think that's a fair statement. He is their son, yes, but I've watched them all these years and I don't think they glorify Josh, they love all their kids. Christians aren't perfect, parents aren't perfect. I don't know how big of an area they live in, but I live in a small community I grew up in. We haven't had the same situation, but my son has been bullied. We don't have police in my small community, but my husband used to talk to this one police officer that worked for the county and he would drive up to our town once in a while to check on things. So I see where the parents handled it privately. Hind sight is 20/20. Should they have put locks on the girl's doors? yes. But you want to believe your child that he/she won't do it again. He went to some place to work on his issues. For those talking on the issue of Jim Bob's control over the family. He's done that for 20 years. It's a great responsibility to raise 19 kids, you have to be strict, precise. My daughter claimed she was an adult at 18 and I told her no. There is a reason they call kids 'teen' agers....because their age ends in 'teen'. Now she's 20, not that I controlled her, but it's hard to watch your kid just go off into the world and live their life. You just have to trust you did a good job as a parent, and pray a lot! haha. So I'm sure Jim Bob is like that. He's had control of the finances, etc that's it's hard for him to not have the control. BUT...19 kids and counting went to Counting on because of the parents in their decisions with Josh. So yeah, if his children are adults, married and with children of their own, they should be paid. Jim Bob needs to step back and say, the kids are grown, they should be paid for these shows and not Jim Bob, unless he's some kind of manager, but then I hope Derrick makes the bar and sues for their share of the money that is owed them. In finding a Christian church....find a church that goes with the word of God. (@ Ronnette). Charles Stanley is a great preacher. Joel Osteen, not so much. He's a fluffy preacher. I just discovered the 'Unashamed' podcast of Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty. He doesn't mix a lot of words and speaks straight from the Bible. Since I've found the podcast, I watch one of his shows daily (he usually has 2 of his sons Al and Jase on). Both of those boys have been through seminary. Sorry for all the gabbing...been reading down the list and just replied all in one shot...haha. God Bless All!

I don’t understand how or why Jim Bob is taking in all the money when his ADULT children are supposed to be the focus of the show, and JB and Michelle are barely on anymore. The Duggar kids could and should not only sue JB but TLC too. Adult Protective Services could get involved as well, because these are adults who are being financially exploited not only by their parents but by this network and the producers. I had no idea he was keeping all their money until now! I stopped watching a long time ago, but now I wish I had more ways to boycott or protest against this show until those kids (adults) are paid.

Honestly I had to come on though and actually comment on this one because I was beyond shocked to hear that Jill and Jessa did not receive the money for their show and that it all went to Jim Bob?! I remember thinking way back then that I was so happy for them that the TV show canceled the contract with Jim Bob and created a new contract with the girls for a new show after everything that had happened... I had no idea and am so surprised (and disappointed) to hear this. I wonder if the girls can create a new contract with the TV station when this one expires or perhaps they can create KZbin channels (if they don't already) to share their actual lives and story. This is very interesting Katie! I have to say I’m amazed you got an interview! I’m really encouraged to hear that Jill and Derrick are getting counseling from a licensed counselor. I grew up very similar to Jill and counseling is viewed negatively unless it is “Christian” counseling. Also, I was going to reach out to you Katie to tell you that I remember several years ago Jill made a post that showed her reading a book about boundaries. So it was interesting to hear that Derrick mentioned that book. She was reading it around the time that you could see a slow change in her that was moving away from her family norms. Great job in getting this interview! Also, thank you for sharing several weeks ago your experience in the church you and your family attended. I can relate to a lot of that.

Jeaneane P Nothing is wrong with Christian counseling but it’s important to understand there are different forms of counseling. When I was exploring counseling several years ago and went to a Christian counselor the counselor who was not a trained and licensed therapist could not provide what I needed which was someone who was licensed and trained in methodology that would help me understand my unhealthy thought patterns and habits and give me tools to choose healthier patterns. The Christian counselor I had was only giving me what I was already getting in church and my own private devotion. She was just not equipped to help me go deep into understanding my patterns or underling trauma, and understanding where/how they originated and how they were affecting me. I think Christian counselors who are trained and licensed therapist can be very helpful but someone who is not trained and licensed and is solely a Christian counselor may not be the most effective if you’ve experienced trauma or have other deeply rooted issues.

Chalchiuhtlicue ....you got it!! Well they speak out but they are not in “your face” about it ...But I’m still shocked because it was evident that JB and Jingers husband clashed on several issues even before they got married ...And Jingers husband never backed down and I think it’s because he is so much older than the other girls husbands and thank the good Lord both Jeremy and Derrick HAD the experience of higher education and NOT being involved in the IBIL community prior to marrying those 2 girls!! In fact I’m really shocked that JB even allowed his girls to court young mean not tied to that denominational way of thinking ...

TLC likely views Jinger & Jeremy as much easier to control versions of Amy (if you watched Katie's video on amy youd know TLC wanted Amy on the show as the fun relative that contrasted to the Duggar's super strict life). So since TLC wants them, JimBob likely allows their shenanigans to an extent (notice Jinger but not Jill wore a skirt during the Duggar women's big Target outing). So I think as long as Jinger is profitable and obedient they are allowed to rebel a little for views and likeability sake. Jinger & Jessa carry the show now.

Jill is very lucky (as was I) to have ended up with a man who loves her and can support her and help her work through the brokenness that the IFB church leaves you with. There are some very bad stories of marriages in the churches. I agree with you Katie that these are adults, not Jim Bob's children but coming from a very similar religious background I know you're never allowed to think for yourself (just obey all the various rules and don't ask questions) so it does take a while for some to realize that what they have believed could possibly be wrong. Some never get there. Out of my family I am the only one who was able to start questioning and thankfully find truth. As Derrick said as well you have to come to a place where you can forgive your parents and realize (in my parents case) this is all they've ever know of religion and they've had people who abused spiritual authority over them and led them in a wrong way. That doesn't mean they're not responsible for choices made, it just helps me have compassion on them. These "churches" leave a lot of broken people in their wake, it's actually hard to understand unless you've seen the inner workings

I followed the Duggar family for many, many years!! This was very interesting to me because l haven't watched them as closely since the problems came to light with Joshua. I wish Jill and Derek all the very best as they move forward in their own way, with their own values! I think it's very normal to develop your own priorities and values as a young married couple and later as parents. Unfortunately for the Dullards this has happened very publicly and compounded by very personal details being revealed about Jill. My heartbreaks for her in this regard, she should be in charge of that narrative at all times. Jim Bob not wanting to relinquish his control of money generated by the family once his children were of an age to be financially dependent shouldn't surprise us, but it does. How those lovely adults, with new lives and little families could be still controlled by the the network without contracts and fees being paid directly is just ridiculous. I wonder how much pressure actually came from the Duggar parents too. Should a disfunctional way to do conduct a relationship with your adult children and a problem waiting to happen. I'm sorry this has caused so much heartache for Jill and Derek. Poor Derek was always going to have a hard time being the Man in his own family if deference wasn't shown to Jim Bob at all times. Jim Bob is very much King of the Castle and obviously has real problems with appropriate boundaries and respect for his adult daughters in particular. I'm happy the Dillard's have stood their ground and taken the steps they did to protect their own blossoming family. I feel like this journey with Jill's parents and siblings is far from over. So l would encourage them to nurture each other and have their families happiness and values uppermost in any dealings with the Duggars going forward in life!

I honestly don't think the girls received counseling following everything with Josh. Counselors are mandatory reporters, and child abuse, especially the type of abuse the girls were victims of, is required to be reported. I'm earning a Masters and am currently doing practicum at a counseling center. I know.its a different state, but there are still Nationwide laws around mandatory reporters.

The Duggar boys/men, including the father, are so awkward and nervous around women and are so strict about their rules for not being tempted around them. I wonder if this is familial response to what Josh did. Maybe that is also why the Duggar’s tend to be more conservative about courting rules.
