@@frenchmustard08 Zara was tough for me too (and Gorizia). Amalfi changed everything in the tech line for me. It's an absolute unit. And for the smaller caliber guns, Duca is also a beast

Very helpful information. 13k games in, but I really struggle with SAP. Enough that I don’t use it, and swap it out for HE whenever possible. Plus I’m not a huge fan of Italian cruisers in the first place. I’ll try revisiting the line now with this info.

I aim in the same places you pointed out in the video in Edinburgh, the ship is great but the short fused AP is annoying if you aim at the belt armor or the turrets, so I aim bow or stern and get 8k damage a salvo. And aiming at places with 32 or less armor should be prioritized by any cruiser with AP/SAP.

The "Problem" with SAP shells is they are not as point and click as HE. They are truly great shells when aimed properly and this video should help people use them well. Not sure if I should thank you for that or not when I am out in the seas lol. Great video

Marco pens 102mm of armor so I'd say this applies when shooting battleships. That's not enough pen to get through the belt. Some cruisers tho you could aim more waterline and yeet.

@@DerkaGames Thanks Derka. So the BB SAP penetration is 1/4 pen, right? I went into training rooms with the Marco Polo, trying out what you said in the video about cruiser sap and fired on different LT and tier 8 ships. The result proofs applying the same principles should work: shoot bow, aft, superstructure and the weaker armor above belt. On BB belt it's shatters and that's it. Hitting the side of a bow with SAP shells of a Maine gets around 4.600 damage per shell. So if multiple hits scored, that can really hurt until the section is saturated. Then it's around 2.300 damage. I gotta do some more testing but so far it seems pretty good, although not nuke-like. So I'm still not sure of it is worth the longer reload and the lack of HE for fires & against DDs.

Only have one Italian ship with SAP, Duca B. Got it out of a crate didn’t expect much, but man it eats DDs alive. I can kill DDs faster than I can in my Flint, which is just nutty.

“SAP sucks”… when you factor in how long it took to roll out a visit function of the line that makes it unique and brings variety to the game…. It’s just like tier 8 ships all being “meh”. We got so used to legendary and having to compete in tiers 7’s, the tier 8’s don’t blap the 7’s like legendaries, and aren’t as survivable as you’d hope where you’re so used to having to do it in a 7.

I love how you highlighted my biggest issues with SAP. Reload and Firing those shells at RANGE. You only included brawling clips in order to make SAP look good but simple fact is AP can pen 90% of those targets and do very similar damage. I feel like I'm watching something from CNN here. Lets see you fight a flank of 4 battleships while you lob that SAP at range and then we can have an actual look unlike this cherry picked section of clips to fit your narrative.

So let me get this straight: you figured out SAP doesn't work well at range and this video supports that, yet you somehow are taking this like a personal attack? Where in the video or its description is anything said about you? Are you the only person saying SAP shells are "bad" because they "shatter" and the "reload is too long?" No, no you aren't. My take-away from the video is how to use SAP shells. If I wanted to see video clips of "how not to use SAP shells" I'd pull up just about any other KZbin video of players trying to lob them at range or otherwise use them incorrectly. If your defense of why something is "bad" is to highlight incorrect usage of said thing then that's a pretty weak argument; not unlike complaining that a shotgun does not work the way a rifle does, or to be more relevant: the equivalent of complaining that HE is bad because it doesn't do anything when I send a salvo at the belt armor of a fully-broadside battleship. It seems everyone agrees SAP shells are good for brawling. Is AP or HE better? We should all be able to agree on answering "it depends." AP might do fine against some of the targets featured while HE might doe fine against others; but the point of the video is SAP has its usage as it tends to blend both. It just sounds to me like your chief complaint is SAP doesn't work the same as AP. Go figure. It doesn't work the same way as HE either. No matter what, it's okay that you don't like it or don't see it as being useful. It's just strange that you feel personally attacked that other people do like SAP, see it's strength, and you chose to go on their channel to comment so negatively.

@@letumpeek As far as I am aware, those two words have been stated by several people, not just you. Same with the concerns about reload & range and general "disappointment" for SAP. I'm in several facebook and discord groups, and will watch the content of multiple creators and occasionally pop into their comment sections, and I see it everywhere. Maybe there is (less public) relationship information regarding you two that I am unaware of; in which case I'll grab the popcorn and a chair. In either case, citing two words that I can attribute to being uttered daily by numerous other persons hardly supports your negative comments. In my opinion, of course. My perception of the situation may not be entirely correct (or in your words, "this is over" my "head"), and I am looking at this from an outsider's perspective, but your public reaction to what appears to be an incredibly subtle dig doesn't seem warranted. In other words, I see 80% (made up subjective estimate) of players from a variety of sources giving negative feedback about SAP shells (mainly reload), several more giving mixed feedback (generally reload), and very few giving direct positive feedback (almost none are content creators). So I find it strange that I see a positive video trying to help people take another look at SAP shells and consider whether they aren't using them correctly, yet somehow it's a personal attack on you specifically. I know you have a following, but I highly doubt every other person who has been giving similar feedback got it from you. If that's indeed the case, then wow, that's a lot of people agreeing that shotgun shells suck and offering proof by demonstrating you can't hit a deer at 500 yards.

Sap shells does not perform. With the "Amalfi" i have significantly worse rounds than with other cruisers on this tier. The premuim cruiser "duca d aosta" is a different story, but the reloading time is also much faster. Wargaming should revise the balance in this regard.
