You're a first person who talks about the whole hand care routine that is needed in case of super dry skin. It took me years and laugh of others to figure things out by myself and start using gloves for everything. I'm glad others can find out what to do now much quicker. Thank you.

I’ve been putting a bit of Kerasal on my cuticles at night (thank you Salon Life!) and it’s improved the peeling of skin around my nails. I also put a drop of oil on my fingers after washing. And I’ve been using a cream with urea and warm jojoba oil soaks every week and that has helped keep my hands soft during the cold winter months.

I deal with atopic dermatitis from a very young age, everything you said are acts that make the dermatitis worse but from my experience with it,it really comes down to mental health, when I am stressed and struggling in my life, my hands, my skin reflects it back to me like a wake up call, that I should take time for my self care routine, meditate, breathe, write in my journal, and apply a shitload of hand moisturiser. Really important to mention it as acts to prevent the worsening of skin problems as atopic dermatitis!! Thank you so much for the video!! It will be really great to have a video about how mental health effects skin❤

A video on nail care!! Yes! I have been doing the Superglue tip for a while now and swear by it. I work in a retail setting and always use hand sanitizer and touch cardboard boxes so I get lots of fissures that are incredibly painful. I wear cotton gloves at night and my favorite hand cream is a glycerin-based one. Fenty Skin makes one but it is expensive. I found one from my dermatologist for 10 bucks. Going to look for that Gloves in a bottle. Thanks for all the fantastic tips!

White cotton socks and glove have been in my life since I was in grade school.I’m 56 and now use the vinyl gloves to clean around the house as well. I use the cotton gloves inside my winter gloves just in case. There are a pair under every sink in my house. I have Eczema and Psoriasis. So much fun! Lotion is at every sink in my house. And Aveno unscented body cleanser too. Only cleanser that helps. I use Cerave and La Roche-Posay. Cerave healing ointment is my best friend. I take an oral med to keep everything at bay.

I will be adding these hand products to my cart, for sure. I had purchased all of your drugstore holy grail products but have desperately needed something for my hands- over washing and winter conditions. I had to wash my hands soon after this video and used the cerave face wash- immediately I could tell it was less drying. I do use a little retinol on the backs of my hands at night with the residual retinol product I use on my face (that was a tip from another dermatologist that just made sense) Thanks so much for this timely video- I needed this. A request for a future topic is foot care. I’d purchased Kerasal intensive foot care on your recommendation but I think a more comprehensive routine is needed for these sad feet

When my hands are full on unhappy almost any and every lotion REALLY burns for hours after applying. The two exceptions are O'Keeffes's Working Hands or Burts's Bees Almond and Milk hand cream. After using those my hands feel like the fire is soothed rather than flamed. I'm curious to use the lotion recommended in this video. And yes the superglue is fantastic. Trust her! Also a product called 'New Skin' I find helpful if you don't want to go the superglue route. I already use(infrequently) a barrier cream suggested to me by a construction worker they use called SBS 44 protective cream. If you are familiar with the product, is it redundant to also try the Gloves in a Bottle? Thank you so much for this video.

As an exflorist Neutrogena was my daily hand cream, having that barrier while working was very helpful. Believe me I’ve tried lots. Now days I go for CeraVe Reparative Hand cream which I find soft and soothing. I’m definitely going to try the Avène Cicalfate cream. It looks lovely. I don’t really like thin runny hand creams. Thankyou this was all so helpful. Gloves are a definite must whenever possible. I used to sleep with cotton gloves on as I couldn’t rest unless my hands were smothered with some sort of lotion at night. At the end of most days a florist has, at best, a few rose thorn nicks and scratches and eucalyptus gum residue all over our hands and I’ve had to use the old superglue trick once or twice.

I would love to see a video on nail care. I have really made an effort this winter on my hands. I usually get the fissures around my thumb nail and they are so painful. This year, I have had ZERO! The extra care, wearing gloves religiously both, outdoors in the cold but also during dish washing and other cleaning as well as remembering to lotion my hands often has worked wonders. I do not remember a winter that I did not have fissures.

I eat A LOT of spice and something I've realized I can do, especially when I don't have gloves while cooking (and I don't eat with gloves) it's using a cleansing oil on my hands first before washing because it helps get that capsaicin off and it's helped my eyes and what not as well. Definitely should probably be followed up with a nice hand lotion since you're essentially double cleansing your hands but it's helped me a bunch!

I had fissures on my hands when the pandemic hit due to constant use of hand sanitizer. It was cured in a few days using a hand cream with urea and a small amount of petrolatum mixed with it. I also love the Avene mixed with petrolatum too. Switching out liquid hand soap with a gentle body wash to wash my hands has also helped. My favourite tip is using a drug store retinal on the backs of my hands before I go to bed. It has faded all the sun spots and my hands and they actually look younger too.

My hand are constantly in and out of water and they were getting so painfully red and sore that sometimes I was even skipping washing them after I'd been to the bathroom urgh! I have lost count of the number of hand creams and lotions I have tried. I needed some intensive treatment and after coming across recommendations in on-line forums for salveation. I contacted the company mama nature and they suggested applying salveation at bed time and wearing cotton gloves. This made complete sense. After one week my hands were almost as good as new. I now use their hand angel hand cream on a daily basis because the salveation is not suitable as it is 'waxy' and only use the salveation when I get a 'flare up' usually during the colder weather here in NYC.

For anyone that works in the vet field Prevail (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) can cause skin peeling and irritation. I've seen ppl at work use Prevail wipes as hand cleansing wipes and then they wonder why their hands are so dry smh. Keeping hands soft and hydrated is hard when you work in the medical field but washing or rinsing your hands after touching irritants, using gloves, and ALWAYS moisturizing after you wash your hands can really help. Having smooth skin isn't just about aesthetics because it can make it easier for bacteria to enter causing infections. This is something that's very important to keep in mind when you're working in a hospital. One thing I recently started incorporating is using a hydrating toner in the morning and at night on my hands (I use it on my face, neck and chest too). If you're slapping oils on dehydrated skin, it can make your skin feel soft and moisturized but that's mostly the feel of the creams/lotions/oils/etc. Hydration is one of the most important things to combat skin dryness.
