Birds are admired for their ability to fly, a bird that can't is essentially a failure, and a failure in life don't get much love or any at all. I think he's being introspective.. My boyfriend first introduced me to dermot’s music about a year ago. We used to have late night car journeys where we’d both just sing along for hours. Now that my boyfriend has passed away, I find so much comfort in these songs, especially this one.
