If your young or just don't understand. Sadly One Day we'll all feel these words in your heart. Its truly & honestly beyond me how anyone can sing this live when your heart is broken! Our Loved Ones are never gone. They hear our voices & wait for us to join them one day.

This is one of the songs that is my mother`s favourite. She passed away late last month at the age of 82. She was survived by her 7 Chinese children and 11 grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian and we are blessed with her FAITH in GOD and many have become followers. We are very delighted that we have been chosen by GOD. Rest In Peace mom. May God`s LOVE shine on every body, for there is ONLY ONE GOD and His Son Jesus Christ. ONLY ONE church that is open to ALL PEOPLE on earth with open arms through its many doors and windows. Please include my mom YUNG in your prayer. With love from a Chinese family who go to the Evangelical Church in Kowloon City HONG KONG. GOD bless you

'Tis the last rose of summer, Left blooming alone; All her lovely companions are faded and gone; No flow'r of her kindred, No rosebud is nigh To reflect back her blushes, Or give sigh for sigh. I'll not leave thee, thou lone one, To pine on the stem; since the lovely are sleeping, Go, sleep thou with them; Thus kindly I scatter Thy leaves o'er the bed Where thy mates of the garden Lie senseless and dead. So soon may I follow, When friendships decay, And from love's shining circle The gems drop away! When true hearts lie wither'd, And fond ones are flown, Oh! who would inhabit This bleak world alone?

This recording always gets me. Yes, it's beautiful, but John also "gets" the song in a way that most people just don't. My Grandma Deese lived to almost 103. She outlived everyone in her family, my Grandpa, and two of their children. SHE was the Last Rose of Summer in the same way that John's Mother was.

This exquisite melody was incorporated into von Flotow's opera "Martha" and is usually sung in Italian as "Sul cespite tremante' -on the quivering bush and is a kind of musical motif which is picked up and sung by the chorus. There was a recent movie called "Three Billboards Outside......Missouri" where, sung by soprano Renee Fleming, this was part of the soundtrack.
