How on earth someone was able to remove the painting mere feet away from where those 4 OAP were sitting WITHOUT anyone noticing is IMPRESSIVE to say the least. I think Derran is the ultimate illusionist. Many of his tricks rely getting people to accept a created reality and once in that created reality he's in control of them and that reality. He's got so many skills in an illusionist and magician that he's in a league all of his own. These are some of the amazing skills he's developed and uses: - Incredible photographic memory, in 4 months can memorize an entire A-Z street map or 200 page book with graphical information and has near instant 99% accurate memory recall. - Slight of hand so he can move, remove and plant items on a person undetected. - Professional hypnotist able to put people under very quickly. - Ability to distract people even entire crowds without them even noticing. - Ability to use psychological suggestion methods combined with clever cognitive brain function manipulation on people and entire crowds so his choices seem like theirs and entirely random. - Master of optical illusions, often deploying meticulous planning and/or clever use of technology which are undetectable. - Incredible confidence and performance skill. He uses performance anxiety/fear and channels it as energy during his often near frantic stage acts. He's able to have several tricks going, manage all those variables, and the anxiety of something going wrong at the same time which shows incredible mental focus and discipline. Like mental juggling! - The ability to improvise very quickly under pressure and maintain calmness and control. His mind is a perfectly honed tool and astonishing. If there was competition for brains like bodybuilding contests, he'd be like the Arnold S world champion with a brain like his which I imagine he has to work hard to maintain with brain exercises. If he wasn't an entertainer it's scary to think what a person like him would be capable of, if he turned to crime. His brain would make him a criminal mastermind and master manipulator of people, the ultimate con-artist! It does make you realise how professional criminals are really like Derren with similar skills that create illusions or distract us, or manipulate us to think or believe something to commit crimes right in front of us undetected. I love how this art theft trick, like many he does, involves the audience being duped into believing something, and so it's a double reality trick on both us, and his victim! Some of his experiments although entertaining are also incredibly interesting from a scientific and social prospective because he's delved into many areas like the paranormal/hauntings, psychics/mediums, ouija boards/seances and other things which challenge and help us better understand how the mind is incredibly powerful and creates astonishing phenomena and effects under the right conditions. He's always exploring the science of the mind and how it effects human sociology and beliefs. Many of his live performance tricks I've been able to spot how he does them by becoming familiar with his methods and because he has to use slight of hand or psychological techniques including the power of suggestion. Often steering and even directing a crowd towards a specific number choice, then making them feel it's their choice and random, using pauses, facial/vocal suggestion and then validation. In reality they have been manipulated skillfully and the outcome from then on is a foregone conclusion and not random chance.

That card switch at 9:52 is absolutely masterful, just gorgeous. He's actually holding two cards in his right hand, the six in front and the nine behind, and as he apparently transfers the six to his left hand he's actually swinging the nine over and grabbing that instead, retaining the six and dumping it on top of the remainder of the deck with his left hand as he draws their focus to his right hand placing the nine on the table. Amazing. And then of course, when he apparently places the rest of the deck into his pocket, he's actually putting it into his sleeve, and while they're distracted looking at the alleged six on the table he shakes the deck down his arm and onto the table.

At 21:07, notice how they emphasise the word 'Police' to subliminally make you feel the fear of authority and appreciate the scenario these folk were in when they thought they were being arrested. Oh, doesn't one just love psychology.
@olliedylan13816 жыл бұрын
Pro Red Games true but the guy who emphasised it thought it was all real, I don’t think it’s psychology, just usual emphasis in a sentence
