Another important factor is that Natalie was likely not used to expressing such deep personal information about herself. When you do this it can produce unexpectedly strong emotional reactions, like crying, vomiting or even blacking out. So a deep personal therapy session with Derren is likely to add to her response to his manipulations, or stimulations if you like.

I think that people need to feel like we are not alone and that there is more to our existence. This video was interesting. It demonstrates how charismatic people can influence our behaviors and how some will follow, believing these people to be more enlightened than us. I also believe that we want to be a part of something, regardless of it being religious - a sense of belonging. Trust can be a real avenue to manipulation. That manipulation doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, it may simply be guidance into a perceived better direction. Perception. It's how we choose to see our world and those within it.

Utterly ridiculous. The biggest trick is that so many people believe these scenarios involve authentic participants as opposed to planted and coached actors. How is it that they all talk out loud when totally alone? Were they told to? Why aren’t we shown that instruction? There is no verifiable evidence that these people are not part of the trick. As such you have been tricked into evidence for unbelief. LOL. One of the biggest tools of an illusionist on TV is this line. “No camera tricks or editing was used to do this.” Which is a lie. But if you integrate that as true the illusion is amazing.

I find that mainly religious folk, but can apply to anybody, that they think that they can just pick their beliefs as they wish to believe, for good reasons or bad, in whatever it might be, and I'm here to tell you that you in fact cannot just simply choose to believe in anything, and if you think that I am wrong, well then I challenge you to choose to believe that you can fly, and climb up on the roof of your house and take that leap of faith off of it, much like people do for their God's, and then come back and we can continue our chat from that point in time. The truth is, one is either convinced by the amount of supporting evidence/reason in support of it's claims, or one isn't, period. I wish more people, especially religious folks, would try and understand that our beliefs actually Do matter, because they inform our actions, and if one holds irrational beliefs, it can and will result in irrational behavior, such as jumping off of the roof of your house, believing that you could fly.

(A recommendation in a video by TheraminTrees led me here.) I'm a middle-aged US Southerner and former clergy with all the typical things that come with that (minus the racism stuff you might expect, though). I just woke up a couple of years ago. As sudden and world-shattering as it was for me, seeing religion for what it is was the easy part. It's my personal experiences that have been the hardest to rationalize. The most obvious conclusion, in my mind, was that it all had to have been delusion. A difficult admission, one that I've struggled to come to terms with. I knew that suggestibility and priming had to be at the root of it, but I couldn't quite connect the dots to fathom how it works. Seeing this demonstration was exactly what I needed to fill in the blanks. It's also quite a relief to see that everyone is not only susceptible, but in fact, physiologically inclined, toward such experiences.

The very fact that she was capable of such an experience leaves me asking the question, are we capable of faith because God exists, or do we need faith and so invent God?

If you are a sceptic then you know that the burden of proof is on those who claim that God exists. One of the arguments they use to convince themselves (not so much to convince others) is that they see signs in their lives that God is watching them. All this video does is debunk this particular argument and remind theists of their burden of proof.

That doesn't make it true. Thankfully "christianity" is the fastest dying major cult in the world given how much harm it does. Best way to ditch the indoctrination is to read the "bible", so immoral.

@@gomahklawm4446 I don’t believe in religion, but you sir, are devoid of any social capacity and it’s strikingly embarrassing. If someone wishes to believe in a God, then they can, you can’t just downplay it as a cult, some people use it as a coping method, or a reason for existence. Don’t shame others for their followings, it’s off-putting and immature.

This is a very similar process, used in combination with LSD in a psychiatric setting, that was used to give heroin addicts a "God experience", which resulted in cessation with only a 20% recidivism rate. That's a quarter of the recidivism rate of a standard rehab program. The addicts were given the God experience, and felt that God didn't want them using heroin anymore, and for most it took, allowing them to go through the physical withdrawal with less desire, if any, for what was hours before the centre of their universe. LSD acts on the brain somewhat like shaking a snowglobe, when the snow settles the previous patterns can be different, so guided therapy can create more productive pathways in the brain, and render old ones ineffective.

Or it could be we are all hard wired to seek God and some higher purpose because it is instilled in us at our birth or even that it may be something we are recalling while here in this avatar with amnesia which we remember slightly as we attempt to make ourselves seek it out as avatars in this horrific low frequency prison dimension of the 5 sense material world and to rise above it and prove ourselves worthy of something incomprehensible. God says, almost as if joking as to just how close we are to him in our true form, "for I knew you looooong before I put you in the womb," kind of like saying, "oh you dont remember while you're down there in that form, but you wouldn't believe just how far we go way back, you and i..." There is no proof that God exists, but there is also no proof he doesnt...of course for the latter that would be a ridiculous statement for anyone to expect to hold any weight really...but there are countless phenomena and experiences which suggest there is something connecting us all in some higher dimension or unseen string trying us together or synchronized thought or relationship and that this is temporary and death not at all the end of consciousness but just one phase of it. And I guess it doesnt hurt that I had an honest to god paranormal experience, a kind which for certain was not just some psychological trick of pareidolia or power of suggestion...at least one as old as time which still has yet to be explained by science even in the least bit or one that has any tentative or beginning explanation for it anyone has come up with just yet. I am glad she took it in stride however, she truly could have had some unintended devastation come from his big reveal at the end and it was something I feel was quite chancey he gambled on....the potential was there to make for a truly cruel experience...

@jonfromtheuk4673 жыл бұрын
no evidence! + the NT is full of contradictions, was anonymously written in greek, many decades after Jesus died from oral stories in Aramaic by people who didnt know where the sun went at night. The bible has talking donkeys, a man living in a fish for 3 days without oxygen, unicorns, witches, walking on water, the sun stopping in the sky, zombies getting out of graves and walking into town talking to people, 3 hour eclipses, dragons, and a serpent who has a lucid conversation with a woman made from a rib of a man, himself made from dust ( or a clot of blood if you are a muslim) who has neither vocal cords to speak nor ears to hear the replies ..............well that all seems legit.

@@jonfromtheuk467 Haha. Well said, if you ask me. I'm sure someone else will beg to differ, however.
@swifttech36023 жыл бұрын
@@jonfromtheuk467 Firstly, I'd like to say that much of that like the talking animals was likely symbolic. The talking snake may have been a human or spirit that had drifted away from god for example. Secondly, the anomalous things like Jesus walking on water, the sun stoping, and dead people walking out of their graves and a man living in a whale. If there is a being who could create life and a universe, it'd make sense that through that power, anomalies like those could happen, despite defying physics. Also, it would make sense for the bible to be made significantly after Jesus died since alot happens after that. That is literally the other half of the bible, the new testament. There were books made before this, that was the old testament. Finally, evidence that god *could* exist. Many people say they don't believe in god, they believe in science. However, there is zero known scientific explanation for how life was created. The creation of life is an anomaly itself. Most textbooks can only explain when, but never how. So the only explanation for this is the existence of a god.

I'm open to believe in a creator, but not a God in the manner it is sold to us. However, I'd love for the Christian faith to be true and so I consider myself culturally to be Christian, but without the belief of God in my heart.

I don't, because there's absolutely no evidence for one. All major religious books are selfcontradictory works of fiction which feature the scientific understanding and moral compass of thousands of years prior.

Perhaps the fact that we are wired for a spiritual divine presence which people tend to pecieve as God and/or Goddeses is merely us anthropomorphizing a divine spark which actually exists but emerged as a product of human consciousness?
