I have these pencils and I also have the Derwent 76 Lightfast pencils and some of the Chromoflow pencils complement the Lightfast set especially the pink since the Lightfast set does not have a decent pink.

They are a nice addition to the Lightfast for colours but not much use on their own at only 24 colours. As a pencil I like them but they use up quickly.

I used to not sharpen before using and I hated my polychromos and my inktense. I just didn’t use them. Then I decided to sharpen them and the difference was so big.

This happened to me with my first Polychromos set (the 12 count set) and I was so disappointed and confused lol. Then, I sharpened them to try and use them for details and found they worked so much better. I didn't notice any difference with my Inktense pencils but in all fairness I got those over a decade ago now so I don't really remember. Ever since that, though, I have been sharpening all of my pencils before use and it's made me like some of my pencils more that I tried in the past and didn't like very much (like Caran D'ache Pablos, for example, although paper and technique was part of my issue there)

The 150 set I just bought for 145 US. I really enjoy them. For the money I have had quite a bit of fun using them.

When I received mine they stunk of chemicals so bad. I laid them out in the garage for a week. I contacted Derwent and they said they were aware. They used a different paint on the barrels and were going to switch back to the original paint. They don’t smell now and are very nice. Thanks for your review.

They must’ve already switched back to the original paint because mine didn’t have a smell at all. They are great pencils.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils mine came with the full tin & just to let you know I had a set of pencils not too long ago I bought & the smell was so bad it was smelt through the WHOLE house , I had to actually take them in the garage & put in a big taped up box with a open box of baking soda for 2 days to get rid of the smell. It worked but OMG. I even got a hold of Amazon, & they said since there through Jerrys artorma to talk to them, & come to find out its the paint they use on their pencils.

I feel like these are somewhat cost cut to help compete against Prismacolor for a coloring audience in the US but also maybe to compete more effectively in developing countries like India. They use a little less wood and therefore less material to make. They probably want to sell these in very high volume compared to their other pencils.

I just got the 150 set. Cheaper then prismacolor here. I love them so far but love my coloursoft too along with faber castell polychromos. Edit they are open stock now too I'm sure

Interesting review Pamela, in my opinion Derwent would be hard pushed to make a pencil better than Coloursoft or Proclour, which I love. Thanks for doing this video though and it was lovely to see you at the beginning 💖

this woould be a good add to your pencils. lotsof people have them and love them using then with your colour soft or procolor or light fast. I know i do

I'm curious how these compare to the Coloursoft because I'm not a huge fan of those pencils. I'm heavy handed, and the Coloursoft don't seem to lend well to that, nor to the paper in mu coloring books, so I struggle with them whenever I use them. Luckily, I only have the 6 skintone set anf then a couple open stock colors I liked. They're better when you layer them but again, heavy handed, its difficult for me to layer with them, and I can't ever seem to get as many layers as I'd like either, and since I'm heavy handed I tend to have a hard time blending them

I saw a review of Amazon Basic pencils that compared AB to prisma, and they were almost identical. Thought this was very interesting g since Amazon Basic are $20/72 verses Prisma.

I love Derwent they’re so vibrant. However I find they are difficult to grip. And I haven’t been able to find a pencil grip that fits. I do wish they were triangles or hexagon shaped. They are difficult to grasp with arthritic hands. ❤. I do love the triangle pencils but don’t have the vibrant colours and hard to mix. But feel great to hold.

I also received mine without a lid!! Say what?? I returned and actually requested a refund, but they sent me a lid instead. Wasn’t looking for anything like this from Derwent!!
