Derwent Chromaflow 150 Colour Family Chart!

Your charts are wonderful, I don’t have your eye for undertone so I really appreciate all the work you put in doing that. I almost bought the 150 set on my last cultpen order, but I heard just in time that not all the colours were available/going to be available so I refrained. For a set of that price not to have open stock to replenish your colours is hard stop for my budget.

All of them are not in open stock. I bought them what they do sell so I have the 100 set. I will not get the 150 set. I have already 24, 48,72 sets and the 28 open stock extra colors. Sad that Dervent is not selling the missing 50 colors in open stock..😐

I love the Chromaflows, they are amazing for small pages or very detailed ones where the thicker soft core pencils struggle to fit, especially if you are trying to do transitions of multiple colors. The Chromas are actually my favorite dry Derwent pencil. I saw the 150 a few weeks ago.. literally squealed out loud.. and immediately ran to Amazon and bought it. Had to have it shipped from the UK (I'm in the US) but no problem, I'll wait. I currently had my 72 mixed with the Goldfabers because they are very similar in size and had some nice complementary colors to help fill out some transitions. Bought a new case for the 150, put my Goldfabers away with their aqua sisters, put the 72 Chromas in storage for backups, printed my swatch sheets.. I was ready to go. Got the set, tickled pink... sit down to do my first swatch and....... realize I don't have enough pencils. Check the tin and sure enough I had the 100 set, which I didn't even know existed and was the same price as the 150 is on UK Amazon. I was devastated, which is a strong statement when we are talking about colored sticks.. but it's true. This was the highlight of my month, which says something about my life but there we are. So.. I sent it back, which I never do... but I 100% was not paying $150 for 28 new pencils. It took forever because Amazon didn't send me the right paperwork for customs and UPS wouldn't take it... and you can't call Amazon.... and I finally got it in the mail but I'm STILL waiting for my refund since it had to ship back to the UK at apparently steamer ship speed. Sigh. I put my 72 away with a fresh color family sort and now I'm just kind of over it honestly. I'm playing with my Prismas (who said that's what I get for seeing other pencils, and that I shouldn't get sucked in by a cool British accent, and long distance relationships are stupid) and I'll probably order the Chromas at some point but I'm salty about the whole experience. It took like two years for Derwent to release the first open stock of the 72, so I'm sure they will release these as well.. it just doesn't make sense not to...but I'm not holding my breath as to time frame. I don't understand why they wait so long, I guess to strong arm their customers into buying another set instead of just the colors they want. We JUST got access to the expanded shades of Inktense here in the US, and how long has it been since they were released? (I of course bought mine imported because I wasn't waiting that long) I'm betting Cult Pens will be the first to get the new Chromas when they can, and they often do their own completion sets.

Cult pens had the 28 (so the 100 is where I’m stopping and if they can’t get the pigments for the other 50 I think it’s ok)

I think it’s a positive sign that Derwent keeps putting out more hues for some of their lines (Inktense, Chromaflow). I hope they give some love to other fan favorites like Drawing, or that they go back an offer options with a thicker core for the people that prefer chunkier pencils.

I find this palette very nice, those pinks and purples are awesome. I think it complements the Prismacolor set very well. The chromaflow has better bright pinks, purples and greens, while prismas have better blues, reds and grays.

Thank you so much Claire for doing these family color charts. They are so helpful when deciding to colour. Before your charts I had so much trouble choosing colours. Now I have lots of fun!!!!! My only question would be about those 50 extra pencils and if they are not going to have them open stock… why???? Makes no sense. I would have liked more pinks in there.

I think you've done an amazing job! You think of colour similarly to me. I absolutely love the chromaflows, and I would say that they're my new favourite pencil (though I do sometimes wish they weren't so thin lol). The lack of open stock really bothers me though. I was only able to get the 24 set to begin with and I would love to be able to add to that as I go along. I need to work out if there's another set I could get that won't have too many dupes in it.

I saw the option to add a "donation" and raised an eyebrow about what would be the next hiccup. What screen would come up after the "0" donation that requested my credit card, etc. (Dishonest channels ahve made me very cynical). You had NONE of that. AND!!:

Because of your character, firstly, but also because oh my goodness this is such a great chart!!! There’s too many dark purples in this set, I struggle to see a difference between them, would have preferred more cold grays. But thanks for the family chart it is useful.

Thank you so much for all your hard work! 🙂‍↕️ I’ve tried to give some family’s words. It is really hard to exactly follow the colour wheel. So I would call your sienna’s orange-brown. The dominant colour of the mix I would place in the front. Those ash-pinkish I would call them pink-brown, because I see a bit brown in the mix. I hope you understand what I’m writing here 😅 I have a 24 set to test them, but was a bit surprised that they didn’t fully cover the image in two or three layers. Don’t know… I will try it in a different colouring book to check. Are the chroma flow lightfast?

The Albrecht Durers are exactly the same colors as the Polychromos. You can use that chart for the AD's.

I believe July. I feel Derwent is being deceptive by not having 50 of the pencils open stock. Ssecondly, Derwent doesn't want to give an answer as to why, they ignore the subject. IMO they are doing it to make customers replace the whole set. Boiling down to money and more full set sales. I wanted them but this has left me with a bitter opinion of Derwent. I refuse to buy them until they offer the whole 150 open stock. I don't understand some of the decisions they have made recently. So sadly, I refuse to purchase them unless all pencils are sold open stock.
