Hi, in my experience I find that Inktense looks very beautiful when applied in VERY thin washes and the layered. And this applies to pencils as well as blocks. Thanks for the review.

I've just bought them and used them and am totally in love with them. I don't use colouring books, I paint with watercolours. The colours layer beautifully once dry, and they are just so vibrant. I love them! Great to hear a Northern accent by the way.xxxxxx

I come at these from the opposite direction. I use watercolor sets, most of which I make myself from empty pans and tube watercolors. I have taken to fitting Inktense blocks into my watercolor tins. I usually include colors like sepia ink, payne's grey and iron green in order to paint my darks and base drawing, but I also include white for corrections and highlights.

19:50 a very nice demonstration when warm blue is mixed with yellow. The warm blue has some red pigments snd thats the reasont it produces a muted green. The same mix is very easy to make with pencils either in multiple ways.

I like that you used them on a Hannah Lynn book so that we can see how they work on that paper. I am thinking of getting the blocks, though the little pans are very cute.

HI Claire :) Wonderful review, this looks like a great painting kit! I really like this watercolor brush, looks just like a marker type of brush. I'm getting back into my art & painting again. I will try the Derwent watercolor pencils & this kit together for my projects!❤️

Gosh, testing colour swatches on a colouring book is a brilliant idea. ❤

I got mine from Derwent's own web page, and I really love them. They wet so easily and you can blend some really nice colors. Only thing I have changed with this set, is to put in one small tube of skin color. Because I'm not good to mix skin colors myself yet. And sense I love to color humans, I kinda need it. But compared to other wc-set's I have, this is my favorite. Thank you so much for this video Claire :D

Great explanation on your inktense video. I think I'll have to redo mine seeing yours. :) I like the idea of painting next to all the squares in a book so you have an idea of how the paint works on paper. Congrats! ... don't forget to get the white on the inktense blocks. That makes it even better. :)

I'm in Australia and discovered the 24 set in my art shop just today 7 January 2021. I love Inktense so when I saw this for the 1st time and saw many different colours compared to my 72 Pencil set I just HAD to have it. Thank you for this very informative video Claire💙💜💙💜

Thank you so much for this review, what a clever product! It would be nice if they gave the paints numbers that correspond with their standardised approach in the pencils. Hopefully they will start selling the replacement pans too!

I love the concept of having pencils in a pan. I was looking forward to being able to blend together like watercolor. PROBLEM these are not permanent like the pencils. I used them on watercolor paper and they reactivated just like watercolor paint. What a surprise !! Have you heard of this happening?
@nikitea1234 жыл бұрын
Ohh so far this hasn't happened with mine unless I don't let them dry properly
@jlm517rocks4 жыл бұрын
I noticed this on Paris paper for pens, 108#. Very smooth, great for brush pens and fine nib pens and the ink takes longer to dry as it sits on the paper longer rather being absorbed by the toothed watercolor paper. Same with hot press watercolor paper (which i prefer to cold pressed). Wait a bit, or use a heat gun if you're impatient. They won't move after 12-24 hours if air dried.

Claire, my set just came the other day and the teal green and racing green were also swapped around like yours. Might be a mix up between how they set them up in the pans and the little paint swatches they give you? Just thought you'd like to know :) They are absolutely stunning though! I'm having so much fun playing with my set x

Thanks for the great review. I got my set through Blick Art Materials here in the USA for $21.99 (It's now $24.49), so it can be found cheaper than on Amazon, yay! I still need to nerd around with them, but can't wait to see the difference from normal watercolors. Also, the Kiwi green is soooo lovely.

You can do something similar with the pencils. Scratch some color onto plastic frame the pencils and then use the waterbrush to paint or blend them

I bought this set thinking it was typical professional watercolors but I was pleasantly wrong. I had no idea what inktense was. Are these different then the color blocks or are you saying they are the same just cut up and used differently as paints? So say if I want to add colors to this I can buy inktense blocks and cut them up and use them like this?

Hello, Claire! Great review! The yellow sponge is to keep your paints moist. You wet it and leave it in the kit. I don’t use it, since the paints can run if too wet. Hope this helps. Have a great weekend! 💕

This is a great review. Thought I'd add that you can blend the pencils , eg to make green. All you need is a Caran D'ache palette which has a textured side specifically for water activated pencils and it works fabulously. Hope you get a chance to try it. It's a great idea and love that its ink tense.

... Or, you can simply use the top surface of the masking tape as pencil mixing palette. Surprisingly, the masking tape has a rough surface that takes enoughy pencil strokes.

Susan Kievman if you make any mistake you can cover it with white and later once it’s dry paint over.white is grate for highlights and so on.inktense white is permanent as ink once dried,don’t lifts as watercolour...best of whites for water media,if you ask me.just play around with it 😉

I never put the Inktense pencil right on my paper! I touch my wet brush to the pencil tip and paint just like I do with watercolors. That way I don’t have scribble marks on the paper. Just want you to know there is another way to paint with the pencils. I’ve been doing it this way ever since Inktense was made.

I think that's what the sponge is for - so you don't need a towel or rag with you while traveling. Is mango a color in the inktense pencils? I don't remember it being a color in the 72 set..or maybe it's the sun yellow or something with a different name.
