I've been using Inktense pencils exclusively for the last couple of weeks. Your idea of using a separate piece of paper, or sanding tool is brilliant! I think this technique is really going to help me. Thank you.

I just saw your Secretary Bird on Derwent's website when I was looking into new pastel pencils! You are really an inspiration, Lisa! Lachri Fine Art has improved my skills a lot, and you make me believe that chasing my dreams isn't a ridiculous notion at all. Stay awesome! I wish you all the best.

Awesome! I bought a set of inktense because of you & can't wait to try one like this! I'm going to try the splattering for streaks of white rays on an acrylic painting, too! You inspire me to no end!! I joined your patreon after watching like 2 of your videos! Thank you so much! Now, if I can settle down & not try to learn EVERY medium at once, it'll be great!😁

This is Grreat !! not only to see the rough layout ( &your confident, just don't worry about it ! ) but the ongoing process & development-& the 'Artiste's eye' pulling it round,modifying as you go, re-adjusting the colour scheme as it unfolds ( & I'm not sure I like that-so lets do this,.. ) You are teaching us that we can actually improve while we 'Do it '.. just as you show it. Absolu' Love it..I learned a tremendous amount in many directions. ( As an aside, I had a swimming accident 40 yrs ago & my hearing also needs some lip-read. Your machine gunfire speech is very clear & amazingly , I get most of it, but, Is it poss to get a transcript of this Tutorial Lisa, please ? )Thankyou.

I like how you do the water. I just bought Inktense yesterday and there's a page in a coloring book I'm kind of stuck on breaking these in on and it would require a water background. This tutorial will be my reference!

I agree with you it is very hard to get a sharp point with these pencils much better to do it with a liner brush. I can't wait to see who the commission is for, if it is Derwent I don't blame them for giving you the commission. These pencils are not easy to use but you seem to have it down to a fine art. I have seen other people on you tube using these pencils but they really aren't using the pencils to their best advantage. I hope Derwent send you their water colour pencils as I would love to see you use them in conjunction with each other. Once again it is very hard to get a fine point with the water colour pencils as they tend to crumble but liner brushes or derwent water brushes help create the sharp lines, that are needed and as for the intense white pencil well for creating highlights it is just wonderful. I don't know why you weren't that fussed on this painting, you have done Inktense proud

Just purchased the 72 set on a lark and wondered how to use them. Your video is brilliant. Thank you. One question can anyone answer - do you keep a separate set of brushes from your watercolor set for the intense? My concern/question is, will the ink stain the brushes if you don't wash them out right away? Can they sit in water while you work?

Loved the video. I have been learning to use watercolor pencil and came across the Inktense pencils. I have not used them but I am wondering if you can clarify something. Derwent calls them watercolor pencils with "ink-like" color but others say they are not watercolor and they are just solid ink. What medium would you classify them as?

When you smooth out your brush strokes with a mop brush with Inktense, do you mist your substrate with an airbrush the way you do with acrylics? Or just go in with a dry mop brush? LOVE your videos!

Great point about making seemingly straight lines slightly curved. Motorcycle jacket designs include straight lines across the front and back. They stand out against all of the background because {Mother) Nature doesn't make straight lines.

I just got the derwent artists set of 72. there is a layer of something on the top and i cant seem to add more layers. can someone explain? Thanks
@Renkku957 жыл бұрын
I have the Derwent Studio pencils (same pencils as Derwent Artist, just thinner) and I've noticed the same problem with layering. They don't have strong pigments and after a few layers the color creates a smooth shiny surface that doesn't take more layers. The pencils on this video are different though. These are Derwent Inktense. Totally different medium.

Wax bloom,
@Michael-tz9sm7 жыл бұрын
Renkku, I think i might have found a solution. try to keep adding light layers until the colour shows and when you have enough use white to burnish it
@Michael-tz9sm7 жыл бұрын
or you can just apply a little more pressure
@Renkku957 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I'll try it out. More pressure works in some cases, but it will usually start to hurt my hand after a while.

I love that you did Betta, or as they are commonly known, fighting fish. I have owned many of them over the years, both males and females. These are obviously males, so my fishy brain is like "noooo they will kill each other" which is silly since it is a painting and not reality.

Desire Baker Hi, you're right. I haven't even thought about it. Maybe the painting should be titled "quiet before the storm" or something like that ...:)
@connieexline20057 жыл бұрын
Desire Baker if she is going to paint realistic pictures then the fact that they can't be together should be reflected in the drawing and only have one male. Or a female and male together.

Can inktense be used with wax/oil pencils? is tooth important for inktense? Will inktense work at all with gel pens being they are water based?
@laceandbits4 жыл бұрын
You can use wax and oil pens or gel pens over the top of inktense as once they are dry, they are permanent and waterproof - so long as you don't put them on thickly as dry pencil initially. If there is a very thick layer of colour it's possible that it doesn't all get activated and will then bleed when a water based pen is used on top. This is what has happened when people say that Derwent lie and the colour isn't waterproof.
