Broadcast live at just after 8pm in the mid 80's, the end I think of live broadcasts of the Des O'connor show. This interview followed Fredddie Starr and Stan Boardman .I don't own any of this material and all rights go to ITV

I visited Oliver Reeds grave during the summer in county Cork where he is buried in a beautiful and peaceful Cemetery there. The local people still talk freely about him, especially in his once local pup, which is directly opposite the cemetery where he is laid to rest. Oliver Reed was the last of his kind.

I have seen thousands of interviews over the years. From the great and the good, to the sublime and ridiculous. No one gets my undivided attention quite like Oliver Reed. As eccentric and inhebtriated as he was sometimes. For the lack of a better term. The man was a national treasure. I could listen to this recuntour and sometimes provocateur all day long... How I wish he was still alive. How he is sorely missed. How I miss Oliver Reed!

RIP Des O’Connor. This was a legendary prime time “family” interview show that caused huge uproar at the time. Olivier Reed was preceded by comedian Stan Boardman who made rude jokes about the name of a German aircraft company. The ITV company bosses were incensed, threatening to sack Des & to get this shut down. After the Reed interview, at the ad break, Des asked continuity who was on next and they replied Freddie Star! The newspaper headlines the next day read “Dirty Des”. Ironically this worked out well for the show because the ratings had previously been on the slide. Hilarious.

Yeh, Dez got a lot of flack from all angles, which though understandle due to how tame he was normally seen as by the public, the guests, when rather controversial or naughty, contrasted, and played well with Dez's pleasantness, and politeness, and niceness, and ended up working out really well for him. And he was exactly the nice man that he was on-screen as he was off-screen. He did well from his rough start as a Buttlins redcoat. Stan Boardman was a one-joke ''The Ge'-mans'' rubbish, knob.

Oliver was a true genius, he had everything, acting ability, comedy timing, desire, fun, etc. However, Oliver himself stated that he never knew how to live until he met Keith Moon. Keith taught him to drink properly and when Keith died, Oliver was devastated and went into mourning for weeks. Genius.

Oliver once said that he was "an actor, it's what I do". He was a gifted performer on stage and on screen; he knew how to handle an audience. He had ability. presence and charisma in spades. The nearest heavyweight actor we have to this, among the wimps these days, is Tom Hardy. However, drinking is out of fashion (along with everything else the bloody moaning minnies and snowflakes won't let us see).

The term "woke " is to describe people who are supposedly awake and aware of all people's sensitivity and feelings over anything that could upset anyone. It's a pretentious view used by douche bags, who claim self superiority by sitting on every fence and have no original train of thought.
