As the world's population continues to grow, and as the planet gets hotter and drier in many areas, desalination will be the key to survival in areas experiencing water shortages. Imagine how much farther ahead we would be if we put all of the money that was used to develop cell phones into desalination technology. This is an issue that demands our attention, yet there are only five people who have commented on this video.

In future brine may be useable by manufacturers of Sodium Ion battery manufacturers - Northvolt in a Sweden announced in November that they plan mass production of Sodium Ion batteries for energy storage systems, the production cells samples are available for evaluation. 😊

Sodium ion batteries don’t use salt they use sodium metal

Instead of discharging brine in one spot in the sea, why can't we use a very long undersea perforated pipe (perforations can be similar to holes in a flute) to discharge water over a large expanse of the sea / ocean. Using this simple technique the salt content will not inordinately increase in any one spot.

I'm not too sure, but I think there would be a few issues with this approach.

It would still increase the salinity of the wide area on a wide scale. We need to just find a use for brine

@@noirekuroraigami2270 Use the Brine to separate hydrogen and oxygen from water using green energy and use the hydrogen in fuel cells and combustion engines. Similar, Industrial uses for oxygen. The remaining salt, primarily sodium chloride, can be used in homes etc.

Brine also contains stuff like lead and other chemicals

other than the treatment chemicals added (which, why??) this can't be any different than water evaporating from the ocean naturally. over a wide area, there won't be any harmful high concentration of salt, especially if placed near a tidal basin which can help disperse the brine even farther.

Why don’t they just find a spot in that HUGEEEEEEE desert and dump the brine there
