When it says there's no pope for you it should be there's no potatoes for you. In american spanish potato is called papa, which is also how the Pope is called in spanish (americand and european).

Oh right. I thought that "there's no Pope for you" would sound logical, because of the socialist rule and their anti-religious standpoints (at least I assume them).

Actually, in Chile "papa", apart from meaning potato, it also means bottle of milk for the babies, in a very tender way, so maybe that's the real meaning.

@@hugofonseca8420 Yes, that's the real meaning. "Papa" in our country is the milk feeding bottle, so that part of the song could be translated as "there's no milk for you", because the lack of food.
