On the Isle of the Lost, evil magic doesn't work, but good magic does. The Isle is supposed to represent the hood while Auradon represents those rich high class neighborhoods. Yes, those green eye moments hinted at Mal's ability to transform into a dragon and she does when her stress level reacher her peak. Dizzy couldn't go with them because it would be obvious to Fairy Godmother that they broke the rules, which of course they could be punished for. Dizzy is the daughter of Drizzella, one of the evil stepsisters from Cinderella. The hook that Harry has is actually his father's hook, whom he inherited it from. Uma does have the ability to turn into an octopus, but she doesn't do it sooner because she can only do it using her necklace and it doesn't work on the Isle. The first movie sets this up when Malefiicent tells Mal that her spell book doesn't work on the Isle but it will work in Auradon. My only issue with this was that they didn't clarify on the fact that only bad magic doesn't work on the Isle until the third film when they should have clarified this concept sooner. You're right about Ben. He can't transform into a Beast unless he's cursed. It was the statue of his father that transformed when Ben clapped at it in the first film, so they kept the same storyline from the animated film. That about does it. I can't wait for you to react to the third film. It will be a very sad watch though, becuae this will be Cameon Boys, who plays Carlos, next to last film. He died from epilepsy at the age of 20. RIP. This will also be the last Deacendants film Kenny Ortega directs and the last you'll see of the main cast, with the exception of Uma and Fairy Godmother. They were going to come back for the fourth film, but after Boyce's death, they decided not to because it would have been hard to do it without him, which is understandable. I also encourage you to react to the short film before watching the third movie. They do a great rendition of Kelly Clarkson's stronger with China Anne Mcclain (Uma) and Dove Cameron (Mal).

The issue of Mal having her spell book is that magic is frowned upon in Auradon. Her hair is purple in the stained glass because Ben loves her for who she is and not what Mal was trying to become

China Anne McClain really brought her all to Uma. She could have easily phoned it in, but she really committed, making Uma enjoyable to watch.

Before being in his movie China was the voice of a character in the short lived animated series. I'm glad she was brought on for Uma because she REALLY eats it up in this film and the next one too. And yes, that IS Kitty from To all the Boys as Dizzie. I think she filmed the first movie either while doing this or directly after.

A lot of details in the movie were in the book before the movie came out. So like mal having her book while the others have their parents “relics” to the museum. Like Mal used to hate evie and Mal and Uma were best friends. It something to look into if you wanna fill in some plot wholes

5:35 i never caught this before but she makes the finger motion she uses for when she's casting a spell😮 5:52 this is probably the sport for the season. Kinda like different sports seasons in other schools 11:03 (edit) again now noticing the subtle nuance in their acting. Ben says "never time to be just us, and then touches Mal's hair while looking at the purple colored part of it.

Whoa that was fast, Chillin like a villain is my favorite Descendants song. I do agree that this movie had better songs. I really like Ben's bad boy outfit. I wish that Ben and Gil interacted more since you know since his father Gaston had a thing for Belle. Fun fact: Mitchel Hope who plays Ben is Aussie just like you. When Ben roared I thought he was gonna turn into a beast like his father. Mal's hair with bangs was a problem for me, but I felt bad for Ben since he was trying to make her happy. Mal reminded me of Shrek when she doesn't think she's cut out for princess thing.

I think the wand is the ultimate magical tool in this universe and probably what was used to ban magic in the island, so that's why they could probably use it to null the barrier even from inside the barrier. 🤔

I knew you’d enjoy this one! The plot of the third one is… eh? There’s pieces that are cringy and I personally love the music in it. But once again you nailed Anna’s and China’s other work! I do really love Dizzy and Uma as characters and I think Evie and Doug are adorable. The irony of both of their parents being part of the Snow White fairy tale is brilliant in my opinion. Also chad is and always will be a douche. He clearly didn’t get any good qualities from Brandy and Paulo. Im interested to see your reaction to the third and fourth movies. Personal favorites are Do What You Gotta Do and One Kiss.

This is my favorite one of the franchise, China Anne McClain really made this installment, imo. I almost find Uma and her crew more interesting than the main group. I like the music from this one the best out of all of them as well.
