The fact that Kenny Ortega was not only the director but also the choreographer for these huge musical dance numbers is freaking mindblowing. He was in his 60s when he choreographed the Descendants movies, this man's talent is beyond untouchable. He had a vision for what he wants, Disney let him do whatever he wants, and he did it brilliantly! I mean, the "W-I-C-K-E-D" part in "Ways To Be Wicked"? Pretty awesome moves

Just some following points that should be noted: Ben's fixation on Mal's accurate eye color in the picture stems from a dream he had in the prequel book where her eyes glowed green. Additionally, the song playing when Mal first enters the salon is from the Descendants' Wicked World show. There is also a deleted scene featuring Mal singing a reprise version of "If Only," which, if included in the movie, would have had a significant impact.

Fun Fact: the actors that played Harry and Gil had a scene together that was cut during filming, which they had shared a kiss. Both actors had done so because that was also done by their characters inside of the novel/book version. Thank Kenny Ortega for the dance moves. He directed this film and the first one. He also directed all of the high school musical movies, Hocus Pocus, and the Michael Jackson This is It tour. Before that, he was the choreographer for Dirty Dancing. Thomas Doughtery who plays Harry Hook is an actual scott in real life so that's his real voice. He and Dove Cameron, who played Mel, were dating at this time. They broke up a few years after they finished the film series.

17:00 yeah, I agree with Greg. I don’t really think it’s fair to say mal doesn’t want or is good in a healthy happy relationship. because that’s what the whole first movie is about. Learning to love love/happiness. She chooses ben at the end of the movie because and I quote” he makes her really happy. “ however, mal still doesn’t think she’s good enough to be there queen. she’ll always be the bad girl from the aisle in her head. which is why naturally she starts wanting to be bad/free from expectations and feels trapped with the pressures rising. so basically before she ruins, everything or before everyone turns on her, she just goes back to her old ways. It’s literally the cycle of trauma. ( i know they talk about it later in the movie )

Oh man the hype for this sequel was nuts when it came out. I graduated high school at that time and I was so ready to watch this and when Ways to be WICKED started playing I lost it. It was definitely the best sequel at the time and the cast really stepped up their game with everything. But adding China Anne McClain as Uma was everything you could ask for. It was so many years after she did A.N.T. Farm so we were thrilled to see her come back to Disney Channel and she nailed it here and in D3. Now we're anxious to see more of her in the Rise of Red later this month. Also seeing Carlos and Jane's relationship build up was too sweet. When it was mentioned that Gaston survived Beauty and the Beast. They brought the dead villains back just to lock them on the isle. Ursula also died at the end of her movie. The "heroes" really were awful for what they did. If you read the books l, it explains why the VKs are so excited to try things like chocolate and fresh strawberries. The food on the isle is just the left overs from Auradon, rotten food and I think Mal describes the coffee as sludge but it's been a while since i read Isle of the Lost.

One thing that will forever bother me. The first movie made it clear magic doesnt work in the isle. So wand shouldnt have worked anyway. And even if we assume the wand would work because it created the barrier... The first movie fully established that the spell book does not work, so Uma should not have been able to use it to escape.

Though I enjoyed the first film, it was the second that really won me over. The first film was more funny but the second is more fun. The dance numbers are just so electric, and that finale song dancing in the water was the best out of all four films. Chillin like a Villain is one heck of a bop.

My main problem with this movie was that we were told very specifically that Magic didn't work on the Isle in the first film. So even if Mal had brought the real wand, it would have been a fancy stick and not much more.
