I've imagined that Carlos was at vet school at that point of time when Mal and Ben got married. Death is always there that's true. Some stories were left unfinished. The main story for first three descendants movies. Is more about Aurdon and the Isle (I hope its spelled it right) evil and Good comes from everywhere just not in one place. While some stories need to be continue while some can be left to their own devices.
