Cool Bill trivia I learned recently: the Descendents started in 1977 when Frank Navetta and Dave Nolte (Joe Nolte's little brother) became surfing buddies and Dave introduced Frank to punk rock. The two decided to start a band, but they both played guitar. They needed a drummer, and Dave said "I know this kid who recently started playing the drums because he wanted to join that new band Panic (later known as Black Flag.) But they didn't want him, so he's available." That kid was Bill.
