Descent - Speedrun (insane-max) - Level 16 (

Hi there,
I had an idea to try speedrun some levels of Descent in "insane-max" category. Rules of this category were suggested by player Avder and are:
1. Insane difficulty
2. Cold Start
3. No Saves
4. No Deaths
5. All 1-Ups, Hostages, and the Full Map (D2 only) must be collected
6. All Robots that the level starts with must be destroyed
Played in D1X-Rebirth 0.58.1 with keyboard only.

This map has another Reactor area you need a specific strategy/item for, if I recall correctly...

In your runs u hold 2 WR´s. Fastest time and least amount of shots fired. Every run of yours, the movement and amount of rockets / lasers u fire on the enemy is so precise, it´s indeed insane. Not like 99% of us, that are just holding down the fire button 😅 Bravo.

What’s the rationale for using flares to open doors? It uses 1 energy per shot vs some other weapons. Although you do use the fusion canon a lot which is not great for door opening.

You actually answered the question yourself. Fusion takes 2 energy and is not practical. And switching weapons all the time is not practical neither. Especially when you are a keybord player. Anyway, I see once I opened the door by flare when I was using spreadfire. I don't remember the reason (if there is any) behind it. It is long time ago I made this run.
