As I've gotten older, I've realized taking the time to do groundwork is so worth it. I don't do anything with my horse now under saddle until I do it on the ground. My horse is hot and sensitive, so it's worth the extra time to get her comfortable with things before putting my butt on the line- or in the saddle. I'm halfway through your fear video, can't wait to finish today!

Aww. He's such a curious & playful boy too. What a sweetie. 😍 Love your videos & signed up for your Dressage Academy even though I can only take a weekly lesson. Don't have more access right now to do ground work but watching these videos helps put the puzzle pieces in place. Big thank you for making this accessible & affordable.

I have a really flighty Arab that was kind of a segue way for me in doing this type of work. I took him to several groundwork clinica where we worked with flags, tarps and the like. It does translate to under saddle work as well.

Just out of curiosity, did you make or buy your flag? If you made it, how did you do it?

If you want to make some fun “desensitizing” sticks you could add maybe an empty water bottle on the end or even an old long sock before you use a flag if your horse is sensitive because it doesn’t make as much noise! And for the flag you can buy them or diy them! I’m sure there are videos on it! Good luck

I wager to bet you most dressage horses would come unglued if a plastic bag blew through the arena. It is not a first priority to work on that. Horses will learn piaffe first. With that said, I better work on desensitizing my horse!

Personally I never agreed with using a flag. There are other ways to desensitize your horse.
