Video games don’t take into account the other stuff that makes the Deagle more impractical. You don’t have to worry about weight, you don’t have to worry about maintenance, you don’t have to worry about reliability. Now to be honest, I do think some of the Deagle’s problems are greatly exaggerated and I do think it does have practical use for handgun hunting, target shooting or predator defense, as it does fire powerful rounds while being softer shooting and having higher capacity. But it’s not a combat handgun whatsoever. lol

The Deagle doesn't do well in sand in the real world so if you have a game with half the maps being sandy environments it makes it difficult to add failures to your weapons without just turning it into a club

Regarding the recoil on the deagle, it’s almost all purely visual. Because of this you can spam it close-range and the bullets will still go to the center of your screen when aiming down sights, regardless of where the gun is positioned. Using a laser sight makes that pretty obvious.

Why is it that nowadays games depict Deagles with a lot of visual kick,but in reality it has a tight recoil pattern?

I've fired a .50AE Desert Eagle, and at least visually it's the best representation I've seen in a game. It just snaps back with extreme authority, and then remembers it's basically a steel 2×4.

To put my "well ackshually" glasses on, the FAMAS has been out of general service with the French military since 2016, being replaced by the HK416[EDIT: 416 Phase in is still ongoing and many french units are still using the FAMAS. I still think my point stands just cureently they are still in service], so it going to insurgents makes a bit of sense as a smuggled gun that escaped the gun shredder. And I look at the Deagle going to insurgents because it's a meme gun and some insurgent probably paid big money to get it smuggled in so he can defend his home like movie star dirty Harold. (I know he didn't use it... Is joke man) Also I thought the MR73 was still in GIGN inventory? Even then, I'd imagine a custom made French operator gun would be harder to get through unofficial channels than the gun used by the main villain in COD4.

Yeah, and they used the F2 variant for a long time, right? Completely gets rid of the top charging handle shroud, or "carry handle" (its not), has a pic rail instead and other updated features. Now to be fair, this game takes place in Iraqi Kurdistan circa 2014-2017, but idk how much french forces were even involved fighting ISIS.

@@Gerwulf97 I think the FELIN mod was used mostly by special forces and wasn't considered economic enough to give to general issue. Could be wrong though. I also could be out of date but the French navy might still be using the G2 version which has an AUG style trigger guard and can take STANAG mags.

The MR73 is commercially available to civilians in France, Europe and the US. A lot of Gendarmerie surplus ends up on the civilian market. It's not a hard to stretch of the imagination to see these ending up in the Middle East.

Also, don't forget that the MR 73 has a delay of a couple milliseconds when firing in it's double action configuration. I.E. it doesn't immediately fire when clicking. That's because a double action revolver needs a heavy trigger pull to cock the hammer back. The more you know 🌠

The trigger pull also drifts the gun horizontally even before it fires making it far less easy to shoot than the Deagle in my opinion.

Sniper barrel is must have on the revolver as it removes the DA trigger delay. Slower fire rate is not a problem cause if you miss your first shot you're most likely already dead

Time for my AKCHYUALLY. The MR73 is still in use today. Especially in the sniper configuration because as a sidearm, it can be easily outclassed by any modern semi-auto. The sniper configuration works well in urban environments because it's not as big and as noticeable as a full size rifle and therefore don't have to worry about people panicking when they see big scary gun and you can get into small awkward sniping positions where you might not be able to fit with a rifle

At the very least, if a 50 AE one shots people, then the heavier and at least 50 cal size of a 12G shotgun slug should kill in one shot, but no, it don't. Regardless, the deagle shouldn't kill in one shot against armor, nor the MR73. They're not that powerful, both having way less kinetic energy than almost any rifle, and they both can't pierce pistol plates, let alone multi-hit rifle rated plates such as what is depicted in game. However, I am happy its an ISIS weapon, it's the kinda dumb shit some ISIS warlord would use.

Honestly the thing that annoys me most about these handguns is the fact that this game is telling me .357 magnum out of a pistol length barrel is more likely to kill someone than a 7.62 NATO out of a rifle length barrel. Also love your one liners, keep up the great videos.

Funny enough, Modern Warfare '19 of all things got it right in that regard, you can't supress the revolver normally (with the exception of a Campaign mission, but it's optional anyway).

I love the deagle but it only really shines with my stealth sniper type build. Only a supressor and managing to get the drop on someone means it will easily "remove problems" that are too close for me to deal with my sniper. It also works wonderfully shooting the heads off of enemy snipers you stuck up on for extra emotional damage 😂

I'd say, they could probably add weight to handguns by making them aim up slower since you're having to bring it up. In that way, the MR can aim faster than the Desert Eagle giving it a somewhat decent advantage.

Great video but one little nitpick, in my opinion it makes complete sense for the MR 73 to only use single action in its sniper configuration because typically, a double action trigger pull is much longer, requires more force than a single action trigger pull, and is generally more inaccurate. Think about it, if you were to have to spend twice as long pulling the trigger than you have a much greater chance of missing.

I use the MR 73 with the scope whenever I play breacher. That way, I have a primary for closer engagements and a secondary that can be used at longer ranges. No other secondary gives you the sort of versatility that the MR 73 has to offer.

Whoa bro? Pistol red dots make it 100% easier to shoot and way more accurate. I won’t get into the science of it, but basically the closer your iron sights are the less accurate your shot will be and red dots don’t suffer from that. Red dots show exactly where your shot is going.

"Complaining about camping snipers" translated= people who don't know how to play the game, refuse to let go of their shift button, and want even the modicum of realism in insurgency to bend to their wims. We even have a COD death cam now, so you can see exactly where the sniper is if you are just running through the open, versus methodically moving up slowly, within cover and concealment. I don't play with the DMRs much, but dont have problems with enemy marksmen that I don't earn.

I mean, for practicality I would use the .357 deagle, 9 rounds per mag and still plenty powerful. .357 is probably the most practical magnum cartridge you can use. But they went for the .50AE meme cartridge. I’ve fired them. They jam and are a little finicky with ammo. The newer ones are better though.

Glock-fanboy here :) I don't bring a primary any more. I have credits left entering the map. The high fire rate is great for moving targets. I can snipe heads with 1 bullet at around 60 range (further than you throw nades), even killing over 100 (Hillside Security map standing on obj 1 killing Insurgence at obj 2, possible but a waste of time). I solo a map with Glock only. It works well on hardcore, I just need the heavy ammo carrier when there are 40 bots. Oh yes, sorry, I am a coop player slaying non-humans. I use the red dot but no laser. I will give these 2 a go, the sound is much cooler. Although, I do not think they will work better for me. Btw: I am pretty sure t-bagging is correctly to be done ON the victim's face 10:33 (the victim is supposed to see ur balls) ..... I have subscribed anyway.

The double action delay on the MR73 is really obnoxious and I hope they lower it in a future update, thats the big thing holding it back. Also I'm very salty that the devs made the Desert Eagle so good considering how much of an absolute trash cannon it is in real life. I feel like it (ironically) needs more recoil or a slower firerate or something to hold it back. It's just too easy to one tap an entire room with it.

I had my best game ever with around 20 kills and 4 deaths. All four deaths were from the same guy with a desert eagle and none of my kills were him. It’s very good in the game if your aim is on point.

Yep. The Gasser Revolver from the early 1900s fixed it, yet it never caught on. That was to reduce the hot gas and concussive force being directed into the shooters face, but it would easily allow for suppressors.
