One handsome car, clearly well thought through, would buy one without a second thought (but the US prefers living in the stone age) the countryside is amazing, and your camera guy and editor are doing an excellent job, but finally with all the eating you do on these trip....I would think you'd weigh alot more ! Keep em coming!

Being able to swap in a larger battery for a road trip is genius. Smaller, lighter pack that's faster to charge for most days, big boy pack for long journeys. Genius.

Your comment about seeing the occasional little settlement makes me wonder how many of these are remnants of previous, and possibly, larger Silk Road settlements or if they are ones that stem from the years of the Cultural Revolution. Of course, they could just be people who want to live a more off-grid independent lifestyle, too; the reasons why and where people live are always a fascinating aspect of travelling, especially when it's out in the whops.

Hi Elliott - looks like a beautiful trip. Jealous. Would be interested to hear a bit more about how the battery swap works in terms of costs, especially when upgrading from a 75 to 100kW battery. Given buying a car here in the UK with a larger battery would be a more costly endeavour, how is that handled in China? Thanks!

This is really a Nio advert and does your reputation no favours. Even in touring mode the trunk is smaller than the BYD Seal and only 2/3rds that of the XPeng Mona M03. Essentially all you get is a bit more of a luxurious fitout and battery swapping ability - for a lot more money. Sorry Elliot, I think I'll give this car a miss.
