Here is the original text of the order 227 (not full). Thoroughly recommended for better understanding of the situation: "Moscow, 28 July 1942. The enemy feeds more and more resources to the front, and, paying no attention to losses, moves on, penetrates deeper into the Soviet Union, captures new areas, devastates and plunders our cities and villages, rapes, kills and robs the Soviet people..The German invaders are driving towards Stalingrad, towards Volga, and want to capture Kuban and the North Caucasus with their oil and bread riches at any price... Some unwise people at the front comfort themselves with arguments that we can continue the retreat to the east, as we have vast territories, a lot of soil, many people, and that we will always have abundance of bread... Every commander, every soldier and political officer have to realise that our resources are not infinite. The territory of the Soviet Union is not a wilderness, but people - workers, peasants, intelligentsia, our fathers and mothers, wives, brothers, children. ...enemy is longing to capture...bread and other resources for the army and the civilians, iron and fuel for the industries, factories and plants that supply the military with hardware and ammo; this is also railroads. With loss of Ukraine, Belorussia, the Baltics, Donetsk basin and other areas we have lost vast territories, that means that we have lost many people, bread, metals, factories, and plants...Continuation of retreat means to destroy us and also our Motherland...if we do not stop retreating, we will be left without bread, fuel, metals, raw materials, factories and plants, without railways. The conclusion is that it is time to stop the retreat. Not a single step back! This should be our slogan from now. Our Motherland is going through hard times. We have to stop, and then throw back and destroy the enemy, whatever it might cost us... We lack order and discipline in companies, regiments and divisions, in tank units, in the Air Force squadrons. This is our major drawback. We have to introduce the strictest order and strong discipline in our army, if we want to save the situation and defend our Motherland. We can no longer tolerate commanders, commissars, and political officers, whose units leave their defenses at will. We can no longer tolerate the fact that the commanders, commissars and political officers allow several cowards to run the show at the battlefield, that the panic-mongers carry away other soldiers in their retreat and open the way to the enemy. Panic-mongers and cowards are to be exterminated at the site."
@brotherjudas77096 жыл бұрын
Fair. This order was necessary. The idea of it being bad comes from the West, US more precisely, who never had a foreign troops on their land, let alone a vast army that vages a war of extermination.
@goldenhedgehog96 жыл бұрын
Brother Judas the US actually was invaded during WWII. Japan took control of 2 Alaskan islands, captured around 90 US civilians, which they sent to Japan. A force of US and Canadian soldiers were sent to push them off, and took the first island in days, and when they arrived on the second they found it abandoned. The invasion was supposed to be a distraction to draw away US naval forces from around Midway, but the US had already broken the Japanese codes and found out and therefor only sent a couple ships. People need to acknowledge this invasion and stop saying the US was never invaded in WWII. Canada and the US deemed the small invasion serious enough to work together to push Japan out of North America, as if they managed to get a small foothold in NA, they risked them pushing to the mainland, and opening up a front on home soil.
@deathkorpsofkreig4756 жыл бұрын
goldenhedgehog9 If I remember correctly over a 100 soldiers were either killed or injury Ed taking that second island due to stupidity,( not being mean but they didn't work together and the G.I were like unattended children) But I do agree America was never invaded on it's main land, alot of countries will do anything to prevent the enemy from getting close to their cities. Due to to Europe wartorn past the people of Europe have a deep routed haterid of occupation. ( Before a American jumps in and starts talking and the bristh occupation of America just remember that I am Irish. We had to deal with the English alot more than you, every good damn century they come over to mess us up in some way)
@goldenhedgehog96 жыл бұрын
Joe Maynes From everything I’ve read, the second Island was abandoned almost immediately after the first was taken back. And I’ll give it to you that casualties were higher than they should have been, but most of the US force was made up of locals who were pretty much just given minimal training and a gun. Canada actually sent a fully trained military unit to fight, but since it was US soil that was invaded, they deferred to the US forces on what to do.

Forgive me, comrade. We always see it too late. Why do they never tell us that you are poor devils like us, that your mothers are just as anxious as ours, and that we have the same fear of death, and the same dying and the same agony - Forgive me, comrade; how could you be my enemy? Correct. But still, I don't think that this is the end. The end of two videos per month, yes. But not the end of this channel. The major problem is that I can't split the time I spend on a video without losing quality. And finding 4 or more hours of free time is impossible right now. But we'll see what the future will bring. 'Cause seasons change but we are still the same. Even though the cold winds blow we're burning like a flame. It's not over! Piscator PS: That's not an official statement :P

Those who fought and survived World War II may have survived the flames of war, but the ashes of the memories of what they saw and did would haunt and change them forever. My great grandfather actually said that he was a US soldier in one of the airborne divisions, he would actually speak of some of the things he saw and those who he saw dying around him, one of which was his little brother. He said no one that fought in the war regardless of which side they were on left the battlefield without being changed.

Stop trying to undermine what stalin did saying that others did bad things, both sides can be bad during a war, but in this case you are fucking braindead if you think stalin was worse

@@rr_gaming4954 Stalin WAS preparing for the war. The USSR was fighting against the Nazis since the Spanish Civil war of 1936. The USSR was preparing for a big war since the 9th Congress of the Russian Communist party. And what's so wrong with the GULag? Doesn't your country put criminals in jail too? Sorry, if that's not the case, or if you suspect that Soviet citizens could not commit any crimes.

I love this song, but I think Joakim is poorly suited for it. This is a very ethereal-sounding song, especially with Desert's lead singer. It's a song meant for someone whose voice trails off softly whereas Joakim is much harsher and hard hitting, it ends abruptly and just feels stunted here. I'd like to hear a variation of this song that's unchanged with someone with a deeper but smoother voice than Joakim on the other end of the duet. (PS: I love Joakim, this just doesn't suit him)

Thats why i love this song! Alexei has a very soft and smooth voice where as Joakim has a Deep and raspy voice. They suit each other very well. In my opinion atleast. (No this isn't because i am a Sabaton fan-boy either)

Agreed. Love him and his voice in things like panzerkampf and Stalingrad, but this song doesn't fit him.

Wie kommst du eigentlich auf die Übersetzung bei 3:00? "Falsch verstehen" oder "erledigen" ist für mich ein großer Unterschied.

Not as "heavy" as metal usually is but very emotional and deep lyrics nonetheless. Makes me think of all those who died because of Stalin's delusions.

I thought the Soviets always had the number advantage how are they outnumbered 100 to 1?
@tokre88806 жыл бұрын
During The beginning of the war from 1941 till 1943/44 The soviets had much less troops as the germans did that was the Reason for order 227 because there was no more room to just offer thousands of square kilometers without fighting or order by Highcommand because they feared to lose all the population of the area that would have been conquered by the Wehrmacht and they feared the loss of industry.
