Day 365: I've been stranded on this godforsaken planet for a full Terran year according to the calendar in my shuttle. I thought I heard a ship in the distance earlier but, alas, it was merely another sandstorm. Day 366: My shuttle's water extraction unit stopped working today. If I can't figure out how to get it working within the next few days, I'm dead. Day 367: I fixed the water. I also spotted a large...something in the distance. It looks like metal. I'm gonna head out to it tomorrow. Day 368: The something I saw turned out to be a building. It looks abandoned many centuries ago but the walls are lined with massive ancient claw marks. Emergency log: This place is not abandoned. There is some kind of creature here...it's massive... Oh God no, it's found the door to this room. Every time it attacks the door it caves a little more. I don't have long. If you find this, ru- --Record extracted from destroyed audiologger in previously unknown ancient ruins on the desert planet X55B. The remains of the previous owner were found over a 85 foot wide area, every bone broken in at least 8 places. The skull was completely gone except for one broken tooth.
I dont like sand. Its rough, and corse, and it gets everywhere.

Personal log, 23rd June 2322, 14:44: Mutiny. I suppose you always run the risk when you're a double agent for the Galactic Navy, undercover and second in command of the Aces and your crew do something you don't like. Not that I deserved it, saving those people from trafficking was the right thing to do, but all my crew saw was the loss of a big pay day. Now I'm marooned on the desert planet of Perseus 7, with just a bottle of water, a ration bar and my retro music player. I'm sure everything will work out nicely and if it doesn't at least I can listen to Frank Sinatra before I die. Personal log, 28th September 2322, 10:02: I've managed to find some shelter in an abandoned settlement that looks to be about 100 years old. My luck must be in as it has a small spring linked to well underground providing me with an endless supply of water. The only real problem is finding food. There's enough in the settlement for about another 2 months maybe 3 if I ration better. After that I'm really in trouble. Oh and my music player broke, to much sand got into its workings and it's beyond repair until I get some new parts, which I won't on this planet. I guess I'm not listening to him when I die. Personal log, 25th October 2322, 11:36: Ignore what I said about luck in a pervious entry, or don't, it depends on how you read the situation. My former best friend, Andromeda, has manged to crash her ship here, an encounter with pirates apparently, and I'm collecting DT-14 connectors to get her ship moving and trying to dodge the sand worms one last time. Truth be told I really missed her and I'm glad to see her again, although doesn't seem as happy to see me as I am to see her. Still, I can't say I blame her. Last time I saw her, she was behind bars in Centarus City. It broke my heart leaving her there, but I had to prove myself to Ripley. That's the start of a very long story, but to cut it short, it was the only way to keep her safe. I'd rather have her hate me than risk putting her back in Ripley's crosshairs. I'll have to come clean and eventually tell her everything, but for now I can live with it. I hope we're friends again eventually though, she's very headstrong and she needs someone watching her back; especially now Kira is gone. Time to head back to the Zephyr and get off this rock for good. Maybe I can replicate some parts to fix my music player? Personal log, 25th October 2322, 16:43: We've escaped the planet and we're heading back to Portem Station at FTL factor 9, I guess she's desperate to get me off her ship. You never realise how good a change of clothes and a shower is until you don't have ethier for 3 months. Being back in space is great, I love being amongst the stars, I never really feel at home on a planet and being stuck on one for 3 months just compounds the issue. I manged to fix my music player, so Frank is back, man I missed his songs. On a more serious point; I know I have a long way to go to make up for what I did, but I've changed and I'm determined to show her it's for the better. In the words of Ol' Blue Eyes himself "I'm gonna make a brand new start of it" and it's "nothing but blue skies from now on".

I like your ambiences. In this one the hiss if the sand is really good. But I also feel like some noise sounds a bit like traffic. I think in a vast desert area there is actually very little low rumble because the sand dampens the low frequencies and there are not a lot of heavy moving objects. Just sand and wind. Just an idea though. Good luck in your efforts!
@AmbienceLab5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment :) I actually did filter most of the low frequencies already, as opposed to, for example, the Ice Planet Ambience.
@Ernthir5 жыл бұрын
@@AmbienceLab yeah I think you can exaggerate that some more. I guess It also depends on how much wind you imagine to be there. When there is no wind there is almost no sound at all. But in field recordings I always feel the bass comes from the wind blowing in the microphone. I have never been to a real desert in person so I can only judge by recordings:P
