Can we all have a moment of silence for our first Skyrim characters..

SERIOUSLY. My first one was a white haired Breton named "Geralt", of course. Only because I wanted to play the Witcher 2, but didn't have a 360, nor a PC. Then, upon doing the college of winterhold quest, like.... 36 hours in, my PS3 bricked on me when I jumped down from a ledge to the ground. My mans Geralt never landed. RIP.

I didn't realize the volume was on, and when the title screen came up, I woke my father up. He walks in and I'm scared ill get grounded, but instead, he laughs quietly and sits with me, lowers the volume, and teaches me how to do the first mission. 12 years later, it's still one of my fondest memories. One of the best things in Skyrim is to just walk the roads at night. Even if you get attacked in random encounters, or get a greeting from a stranger, it's just so nice walk. I guess nighttime in games feels the same way it does in real life if you're free by then. You're alone and enjoying yourself in solitude, events left in the day will shine though eventually, but they can wait, because the night is yours to conquer.

Everything is meaningless, surprisingly few people are going to remember you, and we all end up dead anyway. Our parents (and us, to a certain extent) have a weird obsession with being remembered, but that's just not fun. If life is to be enjoyed, then why do I have to do something unenjoyable in my free time? He had slain Alduin, subdued the Blades, the Stormcloaks, and the vampires of the Volkihar clan, and conquered Miraak: the first Dragonborn, as well as Karstaag and the Ebony Warrior. He now lives a comfortable existence, being quite possibly the most powerful being in Tamriel, who simply wants to live a quiet life amongst his loved ones now. but, one day, I know i'm going to boot it back up, for one last adventure. And he absolutely loves it. he absolutely wanted to play as a wizard Argonian and his favourite activity is to swim in the ocean or in the rivers of Skyrim. Everytime he sees a waterpoint he deviates from his quest and just enjoys the moment. That's so cute. The game is so immersive. And when we finish a quest and i tell him "ok boy that's enough play for the day", he absolutely wants to go to an INN, take a meal and then sleep for 7-8 hours. The rest of the warrior ! I guess. 😃This is so cool. I 'm so happy to share this with him. I never imagined that this would happen when this game launched in 2011.🤩

I remember like it was yesterday ... I was only 10 years old when a friend of mine from swimming classes recommended this game to me. Without knowing much about it, I asked my mom for it in my birthday and received a gift that totally changed the course of my life. I started playing Skyrim and little by little I became enchanted by the game, the beautiful snowy landscapes and the welcoming atmosphere made me love the same. I remembered every corner of the map, knew the npcs by name, loved all the music on the soundtrack and there was always a new adventure to explore, from the stone valleys of Markarth to the remote island of Solstheim, I fell in love with it all. I could build a house, get married, have children, learn more about that mysterious world and become the great hero that everyone needed, it was like a dream coming true. I remember spending several mornings at school sad and without mood because of constant bullying, but always being able to come home and having a moment of fantasy, a home in that game ... Over time, I became interested in lore, and consequently, I became interested in the medieval period. I started to read several books about the medieval period and I became interested in general history, and therefore, today I study to become a diplomat and be able to not only study history, but make history. And it wasn't just this, loving the music of the game, I started to become interested in classical music, listening to an old CD of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and falling in love with classical music, which made me change as a person. Skyrim changed me, I can no longer go back to the game and play normally because I have spent an eternity in that fantasy world and today I no longer have time for it, but I will never forget the times in which I became a werewolf, fought dragons, helped an ancient vampire to prevent the sun from being destroyed, raised a family and several other adventures that I witnessed in this masterpiece. Thank you very much, Skyrim.

Man, Secunda brings back a lot of memories, of traveling through Skyrim at night and just admiring the beauty of the auroras, stars, and planets. What a game. I'll never forget my first character I completed the game with: Bodvar Bear-Heart. A Nord warrior with long blonde hair and a beard, tribal warpaint on his scarred face, heavy armored and weilding a greatsword. I'll never forget all the journeys across Skyrim, finally slaying Alduin, and then later on Harkon and Miraak, saving the land countless times. Then, finally, hanging up the dragonbone armor and sword, settling down in Solitude with Aela and two adopted children, Lucia and Sophie. Corny as it may sound, Skyrim was a big part of my life at one point when I was fresh out of high school and still finding myself. I still come back to it, even today.

I have quite possibly spent 10,000+ hours on this game. I was a poor kid, and we couldnt afford the dlcs back then. I just played the base game, and was satisfied for literal years. On the xbox 360, my first character was a nord who was named "Prisoner" because I pressed the enter button on accident. Back then I never would have guessed that I would eventually know literally everything there is to know about this game. I would completely max out dozens of characters, never getting bored. I would find every location and do every quest, hundreds of times over. I would buy every house, get every daedric artifact, and become thane of every hold, and I would always love every second. When the ps4 came out, i bought dragonborn and dawnguard, and another thousand hours went into mastering everything I could do in that content. It was never a chore, spending hours sneaking around the bear and attacking ralof or hadvar in the helgen cave to max my sneak and one handed before ever leaving helgen. Then leaving helgen and speedrunning through embershard and anises cabin to get the smithing book and potion of invis. It was just fun. One shotting the ebony warrior on legendary is an indescribable sense of accomplishment. No game has ever provided such profound memories and fun as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and I still play to this day. I have a very deep emotional connection to this game, and it has certainly helped make me into the person I am today. Thanks Bethesda.

This game is a masterpiece, and this music is just amazing. I'm using it now to put my 4mo old daughter to sleep, because it's just so calming and beautiful. I hope one day, she will enjoy this game as much as I did, on the same gaming PC I played it on.

28, same thing. When it came out my parents had just gone out for vacation and I had the whole place for myself, I moved the couch in front of the big screen TV, plugged my computer in and played there for a week. It was magical, I still remember the first time I visited Rorikstead and Alduin wakes up the dragon in the mound nearby. That first Falmer dungeon and finding Blackreach. Priceless.

I've posted this elsewhere but I'll never not post this; It was Christmas morning 2011, I was 16 at this point and of all the gifts I was hoping for a games console and Skyrim, had literally been spam watching the trailer for months on end, I had recited every word said... so there I was opening all my generic gifts (which I was entirely grateful for) and still no joy, so albeit a little disappointed my mum disappeared into the next room and I just assumed she was going to prep the Christmas dinner, my mum then returns two minutes later and hands me a game shaped and perfectly wrapped case, but as someone who had previously owned an xbox 360 it was a little small so I just thought it might have been a bluray DVD or something. So there I was ripping it off and I noticed the PS3 logo on the top left, I literally felt my heart jump as I ripped more of the wrapping off and exposed the black paper on the case, instantly I knew what it was but then I thought "hang on a minute, I don't even have a PlayStation 3" then I proceed to look up to see my mum put down a big wrapped box in front of me, I knew what it was and she didn't have to say a single word to me, I've never set anything up so fast in my life. I loaded up, saw the "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" intro and just felt nothing but pure joy, I played it the whole of Christmas day, only stopping to eat dinner then resuming my marathon, exploring anything and everything, talking to anyone and everyone, learning my first thu'um, killing my first Wolf. Even today, 7 years later I find myself falling asleep to this soundtrack, work, bills, expenses can't stop my unconditional love for something that essentially changed my life. You know what they say about Skyrim's soundtrack, you can't touch its music, but its music can touch you. Thank you to anyone who read the whole thing but it's just a fraction of the effort I'd like to express toward Todd Howard and Bethesda for making probably THE greatest RPG game of all Time, until ES6 comes out that is.

I rarely feel the need to reply to others, but just reading it throws me into a warm holiday mood and nostalgia, thank you for sharing this slice of your life :) I also had an unexplainable time with this game. We are very fortunate I have to say. And soon there's Christmas again, I hope you'll have a great time again, possibly with Skyrim, I definitely will and I'm sure your story will come to mind while I roam the plains at day and night.

Beautiful story. I always love hearing "that game" stories. The one that changed it all. The one that became more than just a game, or helped you through a bad time. This particular game didn't have that profound an impact on me, but I was the ripe old age of 33 the first time I picked it up. But I can absolutely relate. "That game" for me was Final Fantasy II (IV US but we didn't know it back then), which I got in the early 90s. I was maybe 14. Lots of the same emotions back then for me, thanks to what was a groundbreaking game in its day (with an equally beautiful score). I do love Skyrim. I got the XB1 remaster almost two years ago now and play the hell out of it. The music is amazing and the world is fantastic. Love it.

12:15 Kyne's Peace I remember when I entered Frostflow Lighthouse for the first time in Skyrim. I thought it was going to be another ordinary dungeon with bandit marauders and their chief, like many times before. After entering the building, however, the tragic story of a family started to unfold in front of my eyes. As I was descending into the icy abyss below, it became clear that I stepped onto Falmer territory. From one chamber to the next, I obliterated every incoming shadowmaster and warmonger along with their Chaurus into Oblivion, while learning the gruesome fate of the man named Habd and his family. When I emerged from this cold and dark hell, this piece of music started playing, and one of the first things that caught my eye was the night sky of Nirn, decorated by the aurora and the myriad of stars. I stayed for a while, contemplating the tragedy of Habd and his family, and even the fate of the Falmer, too. Before leaving, I placed the remains of Habd in the flames of the lighthouse tower, so he could always look to the sea and guide arriving ships to the shore, just as he wished in his final letter. For so many players, such stories combined with the music were what made this game such a unique experience. Edit: Thank you so much for the likes, everyone.

Still remember like it was yesterday: Imagine a warm summer evening, the window was open and a light breeze crawled through my room. I didn’t worry about school, holidays just began. I spent the whole night exploring cave after cave, climbed the highest mountains and fought off giants and trolls. Then i found out i just played the „intro“, i just found out i am the dragonborn. Suddenly it hit me like a truck. I just couldnt stop playing, a feeling that i Never felt again until this day came over me. The urge to explore, i forgot about time and completely indulged into it. The night was over and the sun slowly started to rise. And i knew, this will be an epic journey. Thank you for this video. It brought up memories i completely forgot about even existing. Life became so hectic, but i guess this comes with growing up, its an unevitable change that everybody needs to get through. But these, damn these were simple times, and most definitely one of the best phases of my entire childhood. I’m not crying, you’re crying. This game was there for me through so much, bullying in school, to the deaths of family members, abuse and assault, i wrote my first book and published it to Skyrim’s ambiance. I wrote my university dissertation to it and the first song I listened to after my graduation was the Dragonborn comes. Elder scrolls became a way of life, an escape from the bad and I remember less on the bad moments, the really horrifying moments in life and remember more of Jarls, joining the dark brotherhood, riding shadowmare and sitting by a fire in whiteruns travel listening to endless bard songs and who can forget Lydia... and her annoyingly standing in your way...all...the... time. Skyrim is a whole other life. If I die and I wake up on my way ton helgen... well... I’d be so damn ready.

The nostalgia is so rich. A simpler time. Everyday I wish I could go back, exploring those caves for the first time, everyone sharing their experiences at school the next morning, who discovered what in what cave, seeing who was closer to that ebony armour, who was levelling up like a true dragonborn. I went through some tough things as a kid, still do to this day, but I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for games like Skyrim, Fallout and Halo. Beautiful.

And just think about it. As amazing and relieving as video games are (a lot of them anyway), there are still some people that dislike them and are against them. My mother still tells me to stop playing them, and that I'm addicted - but she doesn't understand the feelings it brings to play a game I love. The music of Undertale made me cry each time I played through it, and I love doing this and going back to listen to the soundtracks of my favorite games. I completely relate, Josh.

I'm playing it like 6-7 years after its release. And it became like a shelter to escape my own bleak and grim world. I feel comfortable there. I ain't even playing to loot, craft and slash enemies three times bigger than me. I play it because I feel safe and familiar with that beautiful artificial world, exploring and reading books here and there. Maybe I'm not supposed to escape my own responsibilities and reality at the age of 24, especially after I stopped playing video games since high school, but whatever. I feel like it's the best therapy right now.
