For future hikers: Buzzards Belly isn't useful for resupply. The next water cache wasn't that far away, I just forgot to tell Matt about one of them, doh!

Matt has 'mentioned' the heat a few times, during the time he was out there Grand Junction, CO broke the daily heat record 10 days in a row!

Incredibly remote and scenic. Looks like a science fiction set. Any coyotes or other animal eyes or sounds? I’m going to buy that book. Congrats on 3500

Even if you don't like the noise, thank you for showing the trains!

We live about 200 yards for the RR tracks here in Palisade, CO, and the trains passing through at night, even with the horns, there is something quite peaceful about them, especially as they get farther away and you can barely hear the horn.....I just drift off back to sleep - all good!

I feel your pain. Just today, while fly fishing, I fell three times stepping on matted grass covering depressions/holes. Makes me question sometimes why I do it. But this quote always comes to me: “When everything goes wrong, that's when the adventure starts.” Congrats on making it 3500 miles. Be safe, good luck.

Congrats on 3500 miles! I’m sorry that you hurt your rib, that is a painful injury to have. I recently hurt mine, it will take a while for it to heal. I can’t even imagine hiking with that type of injury. I hope your tent is okay. Take care Matt and stay safe! 🙏🏻

Man you certainly know how to have fun: Excessively hot, falling, and surprise storms and wind. You are on quite the adventure my friend.

Congrats on 3500 miles! Hope your rib is okay. I no doubt you have the skills to get through the next 1000 miles, and hope the beauty of the desert is making up for all the challenges.

Sorry about your rib. Time to backtrack to that stingy RV and ask for good drugs instead of water.

You have taken "dirt nap" to another level.Sure glad you are ok.Some classically beautiful shots You trek is sorta apocalyptic yes...endless walks unknown food, water resources...hours ,days without seeing or speaking to another.Burning sun, long rayed burning sun ... sleep 💤 good man sleep...

I think a cracked rib is exteremely painful when you breathe deeply. A "bruised rib" hurts but without those sudden pain spikes

I had both after a fall of a scafolding , both hurt but the bruised one i felt for months The broken one(s) healed after 5 weeks . When you have to sneeze it's hell ! Don't know for Matt , the armstraps of a pack tend to be on the wrong place.

Tough walking. If you survive at least you'll have stories to tell the Grandchildren! I'm constanly imagining people in 'Ye Olde days' of Medieval times doing these style walks from North Europe to reach the Crusades, or in the old West of USA to push toward the Manifest Destiny of reaching the other coast. Musta been a lot of this, but probably with a lot harder-to-carry gear.

Well ... the least to say is Utah isn't treating you nicely . Your rib (bruised or cracked) will hurt for some months , i know what i'm talking about ! You can stand some pain but it's going to be very unconfortable. Try to keep keeping it on .Hope the Nemo survived the night.
