You can build a box for that mold with a piece of foam core poster board from the drug store for about 2 bucks. A knife to cut the board, a glue gun or duct tape to hold it all together and you have got all you need to make a custom size box for it. Thanks for the great video!

Hello, one of the things that I do when I have extra melt and pour soap, is I pour it into an ice cube tray. No matter what a small amount it is they can always be used for embeds as well as shreds. I have several that I have cut in little squares medium sized squares larger squares. That are also able to be cut down very easily to reheat them without having other colors in it. Some people think that combining all the colors wood preserve it oh, it doesn't it makes it turned Grey. I think about color if anybody knows the color wheel is is that white is the absence of color black is confusion of color gay next, and gray is in between the two where there are black and white tones. Anyway I just thought maybe I would share my little tip that has worked wonderfully for us if we have any extra colored soap. What I like is is those are always scented and you can call it Tutti Frutti or gummy soap, is one that I want to make with my grandchildren. I'm waiting on several of my molds to come in and one of them includes the gummy bears. They should be fun thank you take care of God bless. Deb

I watched a woman using bricks around her molds instead of wood. The wooden molds are pretty expensive. A couple bricks not so much. I would use at least six bricks two for each side and one for each and so it doesn't blow out for the end. Walleye it ain't going nowhere and the size will be straight as you want them. Take care Deb

I want to get started in soap-making, so I plan on using leftover soaps to start with for practice? Someone said using coconut oil can help make bars creamier and smoother. I'm using the hotel bar-style soaps, the small ones. (My mom collected tons of those little bars. I want to have a larger bar, one I can grip. These are very tiny and don't last very long.) I also have some honey soap, plus goat & rice milk soap, which I eventually want to use with my flower molds. I want to make some gift soaps for the Holiday for some family and friends. I was thinking of adding a bit of Egyptian Musk essential oil or honeysuckle essential oil to each batch for a nice light fragrance. Is this okay? I'm a novice and want to be sure I don't forget anything. I want to be sure they will come out well.
@DesertCloudSoapworks
@DesertCloudSoapworks 9 ай бұрын
You can not melt down commercial bars. You need to use soap base made specifically for melt and pour that can be found at craft stores or online. If you try to heat up commercial bars, all it will do is make a horrible smell and expand into something un-usable because they are loaded with detergents. Cold/hot process soaps can be shaved and added to a new base, but what you are wanting to do will not work. You need to start from scratch with a base specifically designed for melt and pour soap. For fragrance oil or essential oils, you need to make sure they are skin safe and the amount used is a safe amount based on the amount of soap you're making.
@starrweaver
@starrweaver 9 ай бұрын
@@DesertCloudSoapworks so I can only use the homemade soap bars, the honey, goat's and rice milk, glycerin bars, and others I have, right? Do I have to add soap base to them too? These bars are made by a sibling who gifted them to me. I've saved up the pieces, plus have a few small bars.
@PlantyLadySue
@PlantyLadySue 2 ай бұрын
You can chop or grate the hotel soaps then let them soften in some hot or warm water. I mash it up and mold them together after that. It won’t be totally smooth, but it works. Kinda rustic lol. It’s kind of the same concept of putting a wet sliver of soap on a new bar and it adheres to the new bar.

Cool, this'll save the planet and waste. I'd recommend placing the mold in an ultrasonic cleaner (w/ proper water level) to it vibrates and gets rid of air in the melted, liquified piece of of soap. By the way will the microwave still be food safe with the soap vapors in it? Do you have to have a dedicated microwave to melt the pieces of soap? God bless.
