Thank you for this video. I watched it more than 3 times and finally ordered mine. Allready having the DJI OA4, but always wanted to own a gopro since GP5. The pricing always stopped me, but this is a game changer. I dont need those overwhelming settings headache. Im not a pro videographer, a youtuber or even a vlogger. Been waiting/hoping for an actual replacement for the Hero 5 Sessions to use for mounting on my bike for bike races. Main features I’ve prioritized are lightweight, simplicity, great picture quality, and image stabilization. Was hoping the Mini would fit that profile but it didn’t end up being that much lighter than the full-sized GoPro. This is perfect! Definitely a bummer to not have in-camera stabilization, but I’ll gladly trade that and the extra headache of having to go through the app for the lighter weight. Thanks for the solid review!

LOL, so the main feature people want in these cams which is stabilization requires a whole ton of extra work and space on your phone. Damn! Really wanted this. Still goin with my old Hero 8 Black, small, good quality and has all the stabilization you want.

footage from this is not on par with the full size Gopro's... The weight is a winner, the lack of stabilsation in the cam and the lack of footage quality compared to a GP11 or GP11 MINI doesn't cut it for me. wich is a shame, less then a 100 grams compared to over 250grams (guessing here) is such an improvement for Freestyle fpv and fixed wing FPV. but nope....

The video quality and limitations are pretty grim, a second hand Hero 7 or newer will be a better option every time.

I just got this camera, at Best Buy. I installed a quick release mount from Ulanzi. My favorite way to use is to POV with a necklace mount. I travel to Peru last winter use my other GoPro s. I felt more secure this way,especially in a busy public market or the town square. I should show a video of me installing the QR mount,thanks.😊

New subscriber- great video; own multiple GPs and DJIs, but always find myself going back to the hero 11 mini. You saved me $199 because I was tempted to pull the trigger on this until you pointed out that hypersmooth requires processing the footage on the app rather than dumping onto a desktop. That’s my “big miss”- thanks for the detailed review

I just realised... Hypersmooth was removed likely to reduce components and to increase battery life since its non removeable... in this case, it might be a good time to learn Gyroflow

Excellent review. short and focused. GoPro completely missed an opportunity by not including the new quick release in this camera. For me it's really a deal breaker and that's also the reason I finally purchased the Insta360 Go3s. I think the price might bring more people to GoPro. Those that want an easy platform that is straightforward. I just saw it in Sams Club for 199.00. I have the 13 black. I will probably get it. Just the size and covenience of the Mini. Great review. It did help me make my decision to buy.

Its almost perfect but the concern is the battery. Hoping there is a version that no battery installed and ready to plug in a power bank. We used the recording in a long motorcycle ride. It is more convenient not to replace the battery everytime but to use a power source from a bigger power banks so it will have a continuous recording all day

As far as i know as long as your mic exposed to air turbulence nothing can handle it. Only external mic hidden from any such thing.

I wished they made ND filters for it at release date. Why change the design? Hero 11 Mini lens protector was interchangable with the Black. Would have considered it for FPV drone work since it still has gyro data for stabilization.

No, the only GoPro with swapable lenses is the Hero 13 black. It has a totally different price range and also the newest GoPro. This video also sold me on the GoPro Hero 4k, the best price is on Amazon for Australia. 🤓.

Seems like everyone forgot about the Hero, thanks for the video. Will it get Gopro Labs Firmware ? USB powered how long till it overheats on different modes ? Is the internal battery replaceable (mounted not sealed in epoxy), I have no issues pulling it apart to replace the battery years from now. My use case is I want to see if this would be a good Dashcam considering the price. With GoPro Labs firmware, you can enable USB trigger and use as a dash cam. Lots of junk dash cams for this price.

Comparing this to the session 4 and 5: (both cameras that I have.) This is CERTAINLY a upgrade for the session. Both the session is $199.99 vs $199.99, the 4K, the stabilization through the app is alright. However I do DISLIKE the extra step of exporting from the app to my PC. I wish they fix that issue that you can still export to PCs. The sessions originally had that, through the PC version of the app. (I just got my HERO today.)

Yes but the raw footage from the SD card does not have stabilization, that’s done after importing it into the GoPro app.
