In the daylight, GoPro is unbeatable at the moment, but the unreliability, the lack of innovation and the fact that they never listen to us, the community, drove me away this year. I've been through 4 11 mini-s this summer, one i actually crashed into concrete, the rest just died on their own after a few packs of flying. Not to even mention that the replacement process is a hell compared to DJI. My last replacement took 45 days, while with DJI care, I got my replacement in 2 days. With DJI I never had software issues, no freezes, they just work. Thanks for coming to my TED speech. 🙋‍♂

You cannot of used the DJI Osmo action 4/5. Considerably better than Gopro, added its zero glitches ever. It doesn't overheat and it works perfectly always, plus you actually get a flat colour profile to properly colour grade as opposed to the saturated Gopro "flat" profile. GoPro has been surpassed since the release of the DJI Action 4

I really hate gopro. I’m a professional and used almost 12 gopro’s in het last years of all kind of generations. The 1 thing that stands out is: reliability. I have to film most of the time more than 1 hour and 2 of 3 crashed before the hour. Now I have 5 Osmo Actions 5 and they all keep working for almost 4 hours on 1 accu. So the image is comparible with the gopro but the reliability is so much higher. It’s not about ‘mindlessly following the crowd’.

But, when all the reviews were done, people started saying that the GoPro video quality was better than the DJI & Insta360 and all of a sudden, those people were quiet. See for yourself. Watch a OA5 review video and read the comments and then watch a ‘3 months later’ comparison video. All I’m saying is, if you’ve had personal experience and don’t like GoPro, fair enough. As an FPV pilot my GoPro Plus subscription has payed for itself numerous times. I don't mess around with warranty because drone crashes aren't covered and I prefer to call them and simply say "I broke another one, we'll need to do the replacement." Twice they've given me my replacement for free. IMO, it's a little silly to run the newest GoPro on an FPV drone especially if you fly freestyle. Buy a NEW Black edition from GoPro but go back a couple series to save money. GoPro plus will still let me replace my Hero Session 5. Unlimited cloud storage comes in handy too with these files getting bigger and bigger.

Hit the nail on the head. My hero 12 was an absolute champ at karting. Colours popped and it was a great camera. Just that the screen felt laggy and low light stabilisation was non existent. If this were the only option I wouldn’t complain at all but considering my osmo action 4 does stabilisation 2x better and has a perfect app and software for less money. GoPro really needs to pull it out the park

You know what I use to get the video from the sd card of my Go Pro? My DJI Avata 2! Why? Cause when I plug in my go pro directly: - it drains my battery - can overheat during file transfer - uses an annoying media protocol that needs a special driver - you can't play the video files directly without copying them! -they transfer at 5 MB/s instead of 40 MB/s But when I put the sd card in my avata 2: - It does not drain my battery - It does not overheat during file transfer - I can play video files direcly without having to copy them first - they copy at 40 MB/s Good job GoPro! You spend 99,9% of your R&D budget and 0.01% on your software development. And that's just one of the many annoyences of why your losing so much market share. People are just soooo sick of all the bullshit you have to deal with, with a go pro. Hell, my hero 11 can only film mayb 10 minutes in 5.3K at 60 fps before it overheats. Like WTF! Get your shit together Go Pro or your going bankrupt.

The biggest two issues I hear constantly with GoPro is the low light performance and the crappy battery life. Didn't realize the durability wasn't that great either. I ordered a insta360 ace pro 2. Doesn't have 10 bit but I don't need that so it's the perfect action camera imo for non professionals. The two chips give it really good video quality (better than DJI, not quite as good as GoPro in daylight yet) and the best low light performance. Plus a bunch of useful AI features. Durability is extremely solid too, I have seen videos of tossing this thing around to test it and it's completely fine

I still use 3 Hero 11s for my FPVs, just because 12 & 13 didn't feels like an upgrade for me. When the Action 4 came out, i really though about switch to DJI, but that camera still lack something about image quality and dynamic range balance compare to my Gopros, so i forgot about it. Until one of my FPV friends bought a brand new Action 5 Pro, holyshit that camera is so insane, it's light, power on instantly, battery last forever and feels like it'll never overheating. I love the image quality and the dynamic range, seems like DJI has fixed the DR balance problem on Action 4. Maybe after switch to Action 5, the only thing i miss about Gopro is 8:7 aspect and Gopro Lab.

I bought my Yi 4k years ago because I didn't want to spring for a gopro. First one had an issue after a few months (not waterproof and think I got water into it). They warrantied it no questions asked. I've now use it for years without issue, it's gotten flung out of a car at 70mph kicking off the asphalt and run over and didn't even stop recording, didn't crack the lens or rear screen. (Had an aluminum case on it). Its really showing its age now, no stabilization, audio is pretty bad, video quality is really suffering but it works. I'm looking at something dji because I can't trust a gopro to just work these days. Will probably go used as I hate the fact they require you to use an app to set it up and it won't work until you do and I refuse to do that, but a used one is already unlocked and I don't have to bother with an app if I don't want it.

Yea, i swore off gopro since my hero 7 black. My Session 5 cams were a legend, they could take so much abuse and just worked. Now i run an Action 4 and O3 DVR, which is honestly good enough for most use cases. O4 DVR will be extremely close to most high end action cams.

the very first gopro I bought was a hero 8, and on my very first crash with it, I didn't even dent the thing and it just went out like a light. The Hero 8 is also in the upper end in weight that people tend to recommend for FPV, but when I sent it in for replacement, they gave me the Hero 9, with no batteries or any other accessories. So all of the batteries, filters, and everything else I had for the 8 were incompatible. That, coupled with the fact that the 9 weighs the equivalent of a stone paver, I haven't really used a gopro in forever

I recently got the RunCam Thumb 2. It has great video, records sound and it’s very small and light. I also have a GoPro Hero 11. I got the balance lead power adaptor so I can use it without the battery. It’s still MUCH heavier than the Thumb 2. The Thumb 2 is only $100 vs the $300-400 GoPro. You should try the Thumb 2.

I have the insta360 go2, best settings is to shoot in PROvideo mode. There is raw function if you do color grading, you can change the stabilization after the fact. And many more.

I just went through the pain of trying to buy an action camera, and ended up with the hero 13. DJI puts spyware into their app and they require you to use the app to activate the camera. You can’t actually buy the ace pro 2 right now, so that’s the insta 360 out. If you want a good camera you can actually buy that doesn’t spy on you, GoPro still wins.

I clicked the “update GoPro” button in the Quik app and after 2 minutes the update failed and my hero 11 mini was bricked. Luckily I was able to get a free replacement but now I’m never going to touch the firmware again. I decided to update it after the same thing as you I had 1 bumpy landing and it shut off.

For the go3 try changing the esc PWM frequency in betaflight. It often messes with some cameras. Try 48khz or smth else.

No way, my hero 11 mini started having issues where it would freeze the video in random places while recording but the sound was still recording and it all happened after i did something similar, i bounced the drone few times on the asphalt, like bouncing ball, i kinda did it on purpose too, the gopro started having the issues with the frozen video right after that on the next flight. I don't have that thing anymore because i sent it to hell, i could not stand those random frozen videos.

If you know how to use a GoPro its unbeatable. With GoPro labs in the Hero 13 i got it running on 4k120fps 10bit with 225Mbps. Only at lowlight the action 5 maybe has a chance. I also use the gopros disassambled and the weight is just 40gramms. They get power from the drone battery
