@@TheZachLife That huge rounded cover over the crankshaft catches the lubricating oil splashed up and around the main bearing and that also feeds to the small end bearing.... that's the "sump"

All that land was owned by the British at one time - they brought those engines and pumps with them - When the British left they left all the equipment behind - I think. Those engines are still made in India and Pakistan - Slow speed engines don't burn a lot of fuel compared to modern high speed engines - also they run for many more hours with out part replacements

It probably has iron in the well water - some wells don't have cristal clear water - I live in the deep South US and some well water is black - in those cases they run the water through filters for hose hold use - When it's for rice patties it doesn't matter if the well water is dark or red or high sulphur -

That injector is in need of a gasket...you are wasting quite a lot of fuel.... If you were to put a barrel (200 litre plastic?) on the ground and fill it ... then you could use that water via a hose and a tap.... in the upstand pipe from the pump to fill it when starting...rather than 20 litre "buckets" of water??. Once the pump starts the water pressure back through that tap and hose would fill the barrels (s)....ready for the next start.

But I think its very used oil since crude oil is not easy to get by as an individual and its also quite thin while this seem to be standard or mixed blends of heavy contaminated and used engine oil. That they normally just throw away or burn up otherwise with all the environmental effects it will cause that is already a huge problem in India.

When it gets changed, the "waste" oil is used to both fuel the stationary engine (blended with diesel and kerosene/gasoline), and in it's sump (without any fuel supplement). The well has an open top. Dust and stuff blows in, algae grows, etc. The crops it is irrigating don't care. Once it's flowing groundwater it cleans up to crystal clear.

In other "starting the pump engine" vids from Pakistan, I've seen what looks to be red berries (or seeds) fed into the discharge when priming the pump. It could be coarse grained fertilizer (as posted above), or a local berry/seed that is distasteful to pests/larva (so the irrigation canals don't become breeding grounds), or perhaps just a method of making the priming "take" more effectively.

Я сначала хотел написать что это сюр какой-то на полном серьезе использовать двигатель 1910-1920 годов и снимать его на мобильник. А потом огляделся.. они хрен знает где в поле без электричества, им нужна мощная и надежная силовая установка способная качать такой объем воды с минимальными затратами и обслуживанием. Этот двигатель подходит идеально - проработал сто лет и еще столько же проработает, к качеству смазки и топлива не привередлив, может работать на всём что горит, хоть кукурузное масло заливай; ломаться в нем практически нечему, все агрегаты с 500% запасом прочности, охлаждения не требует. Золотое правило в действии: Работает - не трогай!
