Thanks for this review and reminding me that it is time for me to purchase a pen from Pierre -probably a Sobriquet. A great guy, conversationalist, and a consummate artist and machinist. My fondest memory of attending Pelikan Hubs was the 2017 Chicago hub and time my wife and I spent in conversation with Pierre. This past November’s Ohio Pen Show I spent a delightful 15 minute break from the ballroom action, sitting on a bench in the hall talking pens and other things with Pierre and looking at pictures of some of his recent creations.

Wood grain pens are always interesting to write with and check out the grain. They also change over time with the oil from your hand.

I have a Desiderata Sobriquet in Cocobolo. It is about my favorite pen. Weight, balance, nd section are just right for me. The nib is very well tuned so it writes like a sweet dream. It holds a lot of ink and doesn’t dry out. It is also beautiful. I have no fear of it cracking. It was a big expense but has proven to be money well spent.

I am intrigued by the attached piston filter. How difficult is it to do a thorough cleaning on the pen? Does the nib unit come out so that the pen can be flushed if necessary? I like the line variation the nib yields. Thank you turn pen review and the reminder to look at Desiderata again!

Hi, I own a similar model to the one shown in the video. The nib unit does unscrew. I tend to clean mine the slow way, by actuating the piston. Both work well. I am a massive fan of Pierre and his work.

@@nibbedinthebud First, may I saw I love your clever nom de KZbin? Thank you for the information about the nib. I think being able to soak it separately while flushing the chamber.would be a big help.

From the aviation field 29.92 inHg is standard pressure. That's what I would have assumed seeing that number.

Nice pen but I’m always afraid that the wood can crack.

Every material has a breaking point. I work with each wood species to maximize strength and durability. Some wood I resin stabilize because it's required. Some woods don't benefit from that process. In 10 years, and easily a thousand wooden pens I've sold, I've only heard of one crack from a customer. I tried to get a look at it, but I never got it back to see with my own eyes.

@@traditionallarry5378 I can't image a resinated wood will be any less fragile than acrylic. Many high-end manufacturers like Sailor, Pilot, Graf von Faber-Castell, and Montblanc have made wood pens.
